Hey All,

I was wondering if you had any recommendations on a 22lr Rimfire scope for my future CZ 455 Varmint and rings. The rifle will be used for plinking and maybe some small pests. Budget would probably be max of $500. Thanks in advance.

I'm running a Burris timberline 4.5-14x32ao with Leupold med 11mm rings on a 452 - just use it for targets so far and no complaints except it seems to be a bit picky to get lined up at higher power but that could be just me or how it's set up.
I would have got warne 7.3/22 rings but found these Leupolds at a good price in a little shop.
Lots seem to like Mueller one APV model.

I have seen quite a few people with tasco 6-24x42 scopes who are happy with them. I haven't tried that one myself, but the 2-10x42 tasco i had on my 22-250 worked as well as could be expected.

I like Leupold rimfire scopes for hunting and general plinking with my CZs. The eye piece has a smaller diameter than on the regular Leupold scopes and that allows you to mount the scope fairly low while avoiding interference with the bolt handle. They come in 2-7 and 3-9 AO with fine duplex reticles. If you want to get serious about target shooting at or beyond 50 m you might want to get more power with AO. I use VX2 6-18x40 that works really well for me but they are a bit more mula.

Go with a name you trust. I like a scope that has a very fine reticule with dots or crosses. I do not touch the knobs after I've zeroed. I also like higher power (I use 6.5-20 and it's nice for BR50) but for plinking you really don't need to go that high if you don't want to. Be aware that the weight goes up... fast!! For $500 you will find something nice... C.

I have a 3x9 Leupold on my 455, could use a bit more top end when shooting paper at 100 yards. Not sure what i will put on to upgrade it, got the winter to look over catalogues.:d

Personally I prefer exposed turrets. What type of reticle would be best? Ive mostly seen duplex, but was considering the nikon with bdc. Thoughts?

Have a Bushnell Elite 4-16x40 on a Lux, seen lots of dead gophers through that one. Bushy Trophy XLT 4-12 AO, Vortex Diamondback 4-12 AO fit in the budget. I don't like exposed turrets in the field, ok for a target gun. Have the same issues with the Timberline as mentioned, I blame it on bi-focals. Have a Vortex Xfire II 6-24x50 on order to replace the Timberline. Lots of opinions and choices, good luck in sorting them out.

Not a bad choice IMO. I have one of the 3-9 BDC 150 rimfire Nikons on my CZ512. They are good al around scopes for rimfire plinking, hunting and some target work. I find the optics to be really good for a ~$200 scope. The BDC reticule is little thicker than a fine duplex you might get with a leupold or some other scopes. I used to have it on a CZ455 but moved it to the 512 where I could mount it really low. Be prepared to mount it little higher on a bolt action CZ to clear the rather large eye piece.

If you want to have a good fit I would recommend that you select a scope first and based on its size we can give you some good options to fit the 455.

I agree with kody. Scope first. The problem I find with cz rimfires is more the eyepiece end interfering with the bolt rather than objective clearing the barrel.

I like the quality of leupold rings, personally.

Also, determine what rimfire groove size your gun has. All my 452's have 11mm rings but I have heard some cz's have 3/8".

I'm running a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x50 on mine. To be honest, I haven't the slightest clue on my rings. Pretty sure it's an 11mm dovetail though and i've got a medium height setup which just perfectly clears the bolt handle and has enough room for my sunshade and lens cover

I have a Bushnell 3200 tactical 10X on a CZ 452 silhouette mounted in Burris signature zee rings, able to put >25 moa into the rings, good to 300+ yards although it is much better at 200 or so.
