240 Weatherby Magnum

Have a MkV Ultralight in .240Wby. It has become my favourite deer rifle for the past 6 seasons. I mounted a Kahles AH 3-9x42 in Talley vertically split steel rings. Hasn't shifted zero whatsoever.
Shooting 95gr. Ballistic Tips over H4831SC at around 3300fps. I could push them faster but the load I have puts them into less than .75" at 100yd repeatably.
Slams deer with great authority, more than one would expect. Truly an over achiever considering bore diameter. Its taken big bodied Alberta WT and Mule deer with a single shot out to 430yds.

Just a great 6mm, if ever there was one!

Too bad it is a bit of an orphan. The brass is unique, so tends to be pricey.

I owned one for a couple of years, It loved the 100 Partition, so that is the bullet I used.

Sold it to a guy who witnessed it in action muley hunting....he just HAD to have it, lol.

I'm now solidly entrenched with the 6mm Remington, and probably will stay with it.

Regards, Dave.

Had several 6-284s but never the Wby twin, brass too unique and difficult and expensive for my loading habits.....if you know what I mean..........;);):rolleyes:

Besides the 6-284 is just a quick rechamber of any 243 and works well in a short action.

Seems kind of expensive and over kill to use on beavers, no wonder you got rid of it, I bet it worked real well though. :d

Well that's all in the eye of the beholder... My 375 and 458 were a bit more costly to shoot... My 50 AE was much more expensive.

I picked up the 240 to use for coyotes and wolves, but after seeing the destruction on the beaver I was a bit nervous. I only put 12 rounds through it and it was a lazerbeam.

Hey whos shooting a 240 Weatherby Magnum and in what rifle scope are ya ? also any loads to share ? - :d Cheers RJ
