Every BRNO that I've ever handled has had a cheek piece for a right-handed shooter. As a lefty, I'm wondering has anyone here seen a left handed version or one without a cheek piece altogether?

Second question; any ever seen the 16 ga. version?

To the first part of your question. I have 3 Brno's and all have cheek pieces. I have not seen one without a cheek piece but I wouldn't swear that they don't exist. If any were made strictly for the North American market they might not have cheek pieces.

As to the second part of your question. Yes, I have seen a 16 gauge. 1 of my 3 Brnos is a 16 gauge that is almost as new. Cost me quite a bit more than the 12 gauges. But it's the only 16 I have seen to date in this country.

Its a good thing your 16 ga. isn't stocked left or neutral. I would have sent ninjas ;)

The BRNOs with English stocks didn't have cheek pieces, at least the ones I saw. The bbls on those specimens had "Special Poldi Elektro" stamped. If memory serves, Tradeex had a few 16s among their lot some years back. I remember because I went after a couple but those were already gone each time I called.

That is a useful piece of information about the stocks! They haven't had any 16's whatsoever on their site in quite some time.

The couple 16s at Tradeex that I had noticed were in VG condition (Tradeex rated) and were around $375 +/- at that time. I hesitated because I wasn't too sure how the old stockhead of those sidelocks would fare overtime. The hesitation cost me as both were gone by the time I had made up my mind to get one. :)

Was that awhile ago? I used to watch on there for a 16 and never saw any. One of my 12 gauges came from tradeex. It's in quite nice condition . I bought it about 3 years ago and it was $395.00 at that time. I think they are more now. Yes there are still some lower priced ones at tradeex but condition dictates the price.
The 12 gauge with English stock and ejectors that I have has a gold or brass colored trigger guard and trigger. I haven't seen this on another gun. I believe the wood is a bit higher grade as well. It was a private sale about 5 or 6 years ago.
My 16 gauge was a private sale as well.
Either way you cut it they are great value for the money. Far better than buying a $1000.00 new SxS unless you are hung up on removable chokes.

I believe about 3-4 years back. A regret I still have was not buying from the very first batch of Spanish SxS shotguns that Tradeex had imported aprox 8-9 years ago? There were a couple of 12ga Union Armera bird guns I liked. However, I wasn't so keen on a 12 at the time, hesitated and those were scooped up pretty quick.

I have an English-stocked (straight) ZP49, and have sold another one recently (both 12gauge). Neither one had a cheekpiece, and both had a noticeable right-hand cast.

I've also seen a ZP49 with a straight-grip stock with a cheekpiece, but it also had a beavertail forearm rather than the graceful splinter type. Pretty odd-looking critter...didn't handle it and don't know about stock cast.

I have a ZP47 (extractors) 12 ga. with straight stock, no cheek piece and right hand cast. 28" IC/Mod, quite a find in this configuration. A good upland bird gun. The ZP49 model has ejectors.

I have one except mine has the cheek piece (wish it didn't). Nice kick with the metal butt plate - did you replace yours and if so with what?

Nicely made side lock for a great price!
