Ruger Gunsite Scout now offered in composite stock.

Polymer / composite is always nice. I tend to baby wood stocks as well, party why I sold my Scout, I just didn't want to damage it with rain, snow and tree rubs while hunting. I could be tempted to buy another one with a polymer stock. Personally though, I would love to build something similar on a T3 action.

Injection moulded el cheapo or a serious composite stock?

McMillian just started producing stocks for them.

I checked out the McMillan site and didn't see one for the Scout but they do make stocks for Rugers so maybe? That would be good news IMHO. Since the rifle is not cheap I doubt they would use a cheap injection moulded stock.

Can you get the other FH? That brake looks ###...

I guess asthetically the brake is fine to me, but I don't see why you would need one for a 308 -- the flash hider seemed more appropriate. I would suspect the brake is easily removed and Ruger will provide a thread protector like they did with the guide gun.

I'm usually a hardcore black rifle guy, but I really liked the original black laminate stock. Much more so than the composite stock in the picture above.

I heard the .223Cal variant will be available in Canada late spring- early summer 2015.

It's my "go to" .308 ... and I like the gray laminate stock.

Hmmmmmm so you can bag a deer with it but probably go deaf too. At least they include a thread protector. Did the muzzle break versions ever make it to Canada? When I went shopping for my Scout they were not available up here.

Probably a good idea to wear muffs when sighing in and practicing...... it's good practice regardless of caliber and muzzle device.

Hunting.....leave the break at home if you are worried about a few more decibels.

It would be interesting to actually measure the difference with or without the break from the shooters position. I think to many people's opinions on muzzle break's being excessively loud come from sitting next to them on the line.

I wonder what the price point on the plastic stock will be?

Tikka223, This new model is the first time I've seen a removable break option...... makes more sense then a flash hider.
