Hey folks,

Does anyone know where to find M&P9 striker springs in Canada? Ideally the S&W ones, or even better, some extra power ones, but any will do really. I've been scratching my head as to where to find those here as most I find in the US won't ship here.

Cheers!

Are you having issues with the existing striker spring? I have a couple M&Ps, one with well over 10,000 rds and still no sign of issues in that department.

Yeah I've been getting terrible light primer strikes with CCI primers, and someone suggested that the hardness of the CCI primers combined with my possibly weakening spring after 8000 rounds might be the culprit. I figure a spring will be cheaper than 700 wasted primers.

The strike can easily be taken out and apart in under 1 minute. The springs can come out. I have changed mine. Just go to brownells and they ship to canada. Ive used a couple different kinds of reduced power. Have the APEX kit in right now on mine. Brownells does ship them to canada.

Before I replaced anything, I would make sure that the striker assembly as well as the striker hole is free of debris and oil, and check that the striker itself is in good condition. There may be a build-up of brass shavings and/or other debris that can mix with oil and prevent the striker from moving forward freely. Not saying that it isnt the spring for sure, but after only 8000 rounds you really should probably not be seeing that particular issue.

If all you need is the spring, and not the entire assembly, a Glock striker spring will work.

Definitely clean the striker channel (use a dry Q tip) it's amazing how much crap gets in there, and make sure there's no oil, cleaner or anything else in there, the striker is supposed to be bone dry. Unless you have a bad batch of primers I can't see that being a problem - 90% of the rounds I've fired have had CCI primers. Are they bottomed out in the primer pocket - if they're not below flush on the cartridge, they can seat on the strike causing a misfire - just a guess.

Like putting a Gm engine in a Ford or vice versa ;)

Your best bet is Brownells, but make sure the channel is cleaned as mentioned before, extra lube or gunk does make its way down there, make sure to pick up the plastic guide tube in which it rides in if you order the striker. For an extra 5-6$ its worth it.

I've been running the recoil spring assembly from a Glock 17 in my M&P Pro for about 2000 rounds now without so much as a hiccup. ;). I've been waiting forever for Brownells to get the S&W ones back in stock.
