here is one for you rar - Mountain Ti in 270 wsm ... bought it for my wife but always end up taking it if she's not along.
for a stock setup still quite light -Tally lites and reasonably light Leica 2.5 x 10 ER

For those of you with the Remington and Browning Ti actions, how are they for smoothness when cycling? I've only ever handled one Rem Ti, it was kind of gritty, but an early example as well.

Browning Ti is very smooth and easy... never had any feeding issues and the bolt is lower angle, 60 degree i believe. I just hit it with a bit of G96 occasionally.
Just had a chance to weigh it all up with scope - 7.4 lbs

As I mentioned in the gunsmithing forum the remington ti's never had their bolt bodies polished. There are machining marks still on it if you look closely thru the blasted finished. That is where the noise comes from when working the bolt back and forth. If you drop a standard bolt in the ti action the noise is gone.... Kinda sad but it is what it is.

*reread your post! not sure about a gritty feeling, but my post was addressing the "whistle" when working the bolt.

Amazing considering titanium galls so badly they'd skip polishing the bolts, must not be much of an issue against carbon steel.
 
Not on the Remington's - Only the receiver body so titanium. Ti on ti is a recipe for galling. At least a couple have tried, but the ones I know about quit because of the galling issues.

I believe Ardent is having a custom made completely of titanium, so I guess some have found a way around the problem.
 
I use the Weatherby Mark V Ultra Lightweights. I have 2 of them right now. A 338-06 I got from Double Gun and a 308 I just picked up. I had a 270 that I never should have let go... They point perfect for me and have all been shooters so far! Especially that 338-06 ;) (thanks again Double Gun!)

I certainly believe so, they are in a whole different class, hyperlites. Competitors are full a pound heavier and still marketed as ultralight, I did a review here that is useful hopefully,

There are alloy choices Stuart has fiddled with and uses for various the components (everything but the springs is ti), but most importantly it's just plain old cerakoted and you have to keep up on that for the bolt.
