with any decent semi-auto you need to tune them usually the m14 isn't some special case.
almost all the tuning mods can be done for under 100$ shipped (black arrow spring guide or nm guide+spring. + gas shims if needed)
and the synthetic stocks if your on a budget can be bedded on the cheap there is a how-to in the stickies on it (probably under 30$ total to do it).
really the gun can be tuned for about 550$ @ this sale price.
after that its more expensive things and thats entirely the owners choice.
Their is always a chance the gun needs to be timed or something a smith needs to do but usually from what i've read its not that bad.
You are always going to see the guys who want another 0.5-1 moa less off their groups and will spend the bucks to do so thats entirely up to the user.

How is the accuracy on these? .308 is an expensive cartridge
Out of the box? It's hard to say, depending on which one you pick. Most need some tuning done. After that, they quickly become a favorite.
