Value of old rifle boxes

I have these boxes sitting colleting dust, are they of any value? I see some come up on the ee from time to time, do they actually sell? One is from a win 94 30-30, one from a win 9422 .22lr, one from a ruger 22-250 and the last is a browning blr 308. They have the original packaging still inside of them. Any help would be appreciated on these before I stick them up for sale.

 
They might add value to the original firearm if sold together, but would be just another cardboard box alone.

Keep them another 50 yrs and they might be worth something.
 
For me the true value of these has become as a great way to mail firearms. Golf boxes work also. Personally, unless someone had that exact gun....of questionable worth. Certainly not worth shipping, perhaps if there is a local gun show where the OP lives they would be a good small trade with a vendor.

This.^^ Besides, factory shipping boxes are marginal at best for shipping. Ya gotta pack the gun right & tight in the original box, then box it tight over that with another layer of good cardboard to help ensure safe delivery
if yer selling guns. I keep a stockpile of boxes for recycling that way.
 
Thanks for the replies, the rifles that came out of the boxes are on the never sell list, and are for hunting so the boxes won't improve their value. Maybe the gunshow route would be the best, instead of the recycle bin.
 
The rifles are classed as $0 guns as they can't be sold due to sentimental value. The guns will also never be back in the boxes as they are used all the time, as they were intended when they were passed down. :)
 
I always like to have the original box/papers etc with all my stuff.

I dunno, might just be part of that OCD thing, though.... :p

Gun boxes for the purpose of shipping have a value of between $5 and $10, at least that's what I'd be willing to pay my LGS for their spare boxes. Since you have the rifles that go with the boxes, I'd be inclined to keep them as that's just another bit of the "history" of the rifles that, once lost, is never recoverable. If I could only keep a couple, I'd set the Winchester boxes aside.

If you were considering selling (and I know you said never, but perhaps the person who inherits them may (sadly) not have the same feeling), having the matching box is definitely a selling point. I don't think it adds any significant value, but can certainly ease the sale.
 
75 to 100 year old picture original gun boxes command big prices if they are in excellent condition. I doubt these will. Use them for mailing guns... or hang on to them, eventually they will add value to your guns that came out of them...

If you have the shooters that came in those boxes, definitely keep the boxes.
Slide the boxes under a bed and forget 'bout them.
One day yer great grand kid will thank you.
 
This near new condition Husqvarna 30-06 came in this box...about 55 years ago....Box is serial numbered to the rifle. I doubt that its worth anything or adds any value to the rifle...but its a fun thing to have.
