next Co2 pistol?

I recently got a crossman vigilante, despite thinking that I would never ever get another air operated anything now that I have a PAL but when you get down to it, it's just downright fun and practical for indoor use during the winter. And it allows me to practice pistol style shooting without a RPAL. It really is another challenge.

I like the vigilante a lot and with a little tuning of obvious inefficiencies it's now a one hole shooter from 8 yards with diabolo wadcutters. But still to much plastic for my taste, the beretta px4 felt a lot better in my hands.

In fact I like this new hobby so much I am planning to get the Umarex Smith & Wesson 586 or 686 but does anyone have other suggestions? I would prefer a CO2 or break barrel but precision would be important. How about the bejamin trail NP? Can you get it here in Canada? I have no clue really this is all new to me.

My son is into Greengas/propane airsoft. Don't know if there are BB/pellet guns that can propane but I would consider one(if it existed) just for plinking.
OP….have a look at WEIHRAUCH. They make a decent pistol. D&L carries them.
 
Please verify your city's municipal ordinances. I'm in Ottawa in a high-rise.
I am not allowed to discharge air-guns (or CO2) within the city even though
I know I have built a perfect pellet trap (crushed newspapers in a tall plastic trash bin)
but my building is so quiet and my front door is next to the elevators, that I am
afraid that a snoop might recognize the pew pfffft sound and call it in to 911.
So, I don't.

Sorry... the C series was the Sheridan line of rifles... which are excellent also.... the HB pistols are multi-pump pneumatic (I own two in .20 & .22, and love them)... the EB series are the CO2 models and the ones that I meant to recommend... a real nice, well made, accurate little pistol.
 
Thanks for all the replies, I actually looked at the WEIHRAUCH and they were a little too pricey being in the 400 + range and/or pneumatic which I am not to keen on, I just don't like the idea of pumping the thing, but they are quality though that's for sure, from what I read. If I was going to go all out on a air pistol I think I would look at the TAU's.

edit: sorry thought pneumatic like the hw45 meant a pump pistol and after I looked it up it's not, it's like a break barrel but I also saw that they are very accurate too, but the price...

I'm glad to rule off the px4, it was a very nice feeling pistol but if it cant shoot straight then I have no use for it.

BB's...not what I would prefer.

How is the trigger? rifled barrel? It was one of the pistols I considered. I like the power it has in .22. The sights are pretty crappy from what I saw but they can be fixed. How many rounds before the power drops beyond use?

You will get around 35 full power shots, depending on temperature.
 
I decided to go with a Crossman 2240, I ordered it with the 14'' barrel and steel breech.

I'm pretty sure it will give the precision I'm looking for and the extra range.
 
I also have a steel breech on my "old" 1322 and upgraded the rear sight with an LPA MIM. Combo works great if you're planning on staying with irons.
These are accurate pellet guns and the .22 versions thump hard. Enjoy your 2240.

I got the package today, wow what a nice little pistol, it's all metal now except for the grips. I installed the 14 inch barrel, steel breech and LPA sight. I tried it out on the old .22 bullet trap and it hits like crazy, very precise too.

The best part is that I have a new project to work on. Next steps are tulip wood scales, brass barrel and tube bracket that i'll be making this week some time, trigger work obviously and recrown the barrel.

I may nickel plate it as well, I haven't done this before so I need to make sure I can do it first, testing is a must before I jump into it.

I noticed that the transfer port is not restricted to a smaller size for canada, new thing?

The only down side to this great little pistol is the handles, the plastic is a little nasty and it's an ambidextrous design and therefore not optimized but that will be fixed soon and I'm being a little picky anyways.

With those plastic pellets with the metal tip, I used to almost embed the pellet into the lids of 7.62 Ammo cans. They hit hard. Just a wee bit loud.
