Norinco .223 ammo issues in my Colt AR

Whenever the word Norinco comes up, I'll always bet on the ammo being the issue... The QC on that stuff is abysmal, and I've seen it do some of the wackiest sh!t.

I agree. There are people who have had good luck and people that have had bad luck (like me). To me the QC is terrible and not worth the risk. The last time I posted about it, I was told it was everything but the ammo by some people that had good luck (understandable, sort of), but through my own trial and error have determined that the case I bought is garbage (all other ammo works flawlessly out of same gun/mag combos). It is just one of those things with Norinco. For me it means I will not buy anymore, not a big deal.
To the OP. I would recommend just trying different things, eliminating one variable at a time and you will find the problem. Good Luck!

I had a massive amount of rifle failures last year, ran multiple variations of mags and ammo, and it really came down to that my norc ammo would only fire through Pmags and some, but not all, LAR mags. I brought 4 brands of mags and 3 brands of ammo to the range one day and ran through every variation I could until I sorted it out. I did also learn that I had a couple wonky mags in my lineup, which failed with all ammo. But it was worth running all variations until I got my s--t sorted out. Good luck, I hope it's just a few bad mags, because I sure miss shooting cheap ammo! :)

Edited to add... There's been lots of talk on this forum about a certain batch/year of Norc 5.56 that was bad. I've experienced it. Of my last crate of 1200rds, I've had 3 primers shatter and jam up the bcg to the point where the rifle twice had to be dismantled in the field, down to removing the buffer tube, to get it clear. The before that I probably shot 4000-6000 rounds without a hiccup. That's why you get some people who love it and some who hate it.
 
I shoot NORC ammo when I bring guests ( hehe ) or if I shoot 100 meters and under. CQB style shooting.

Other then a bigger BOUM out of my 10.5 I never had any problems. So far. After 2 crates.

I would say that in my entire experience with AR's and issued C7-C8 etc. 99% of the issues I got came form mags. I am no expert but that is what it is for me.

Just tried some good quality ammo and it too gets stuck. I also removed the upper and checked the feed ramps better and they're aligned perfectly. At this point I'm 99.99 % sure it's the mags being incorrectly pinned. When I get my hands on another mag I'm betting it'll be the final test I'll have to run...
 
Seems you're getting pretty close to the answer. Possibly what was suggested all along but as a side note where'd you get the mags pinned like that?

Irunguns. I may have to send them an email... If they even respond. I'll probably have to end up buying rivets and a rivet gun.
 
My experiences with Norinco 5.56mm ammo have been good. Been shooting it now for three years, through three AR's. Haven't had any failures to feed, eject, etc. In fact, the chronograph and my M4 love the Norinco ammo, very consistant over the chrony and great accuracy within 100yards.
 
Update. Just tried with multiple different mags that have worked fine with other ar's in the past with the PMC I have and the norc ammo and it's still not feeding. It's an issue with the gun at this point. I even disassembled the Bcg and replaced the thick gooey lube with some light stuff and cleaned it all up and although it worked a tad better it was still jamming. I'll be contacting IRG and seeing what they'll do for me.
 
Here's a pic of the feed ramps. Now that I've shone a light on it it's looking like one side may be a bit tougher than the other but I'm not sure if that's the issue. What do you guys think?

it's hard to tell but by first look at the pic, your gas tube does not look centered. Did you clean your rifle after using the Norc ammo. It is very dirty.

No, i didn't clean it after. I just cleaned the Bcg yesterday to see if the gunk in it was causing the issues, although i only fired like 25 rounds through it because I grew tired of the jams. I generally don't clean my guns. I noticed that too after posting the picture. I'll have to take a look again.
