IS 22 WMR ammo that scarce?

So I ordered a Savage 22 WMR from Wholesale Sports and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I was in Wholesale this weekend and they have no ammo and neither does Cabelas. I was told that they will not have any at Wholesale till maybe the spring. I did find some locally and bought three boxes of Win 40gr HP for $19 a box. Should I stock up? I was planning on using it for beaver and close range coyotes (under 50 yards) so I don't need a whole bunch.

I guess the real question is. Is it that hard to find or did I just happen to look in the wrong places? I realize that 22lr is getting hard to find also. strangely enough 17 hmr is everywhere.

Hell no! There's loads of the stuff in Edmonton. Phoenix has Choot 'ems 250 pack (CCI) for $59. Cases and cases of it. P&D has lots of it. I've never had any issues finding lots of it in Edmonton.
 
seems to be a lot of it in Ontario as well .I got ten boxes put away just in case ,may het a few more as I just love shooting the 22 mag .she is my most used gun ,and just a joy to carry .I us mine for beaver as well as fox and yotes .it is a model 93 Dutch
 
Bought a Ruger American in 22 WMR on boxing day should have picked up some ammo when I bought the rifle.
Thanks to my buddy, I got to shoot it today.
I think Ruger has a another winner with this rifle. Flawless feeding, extraction and ejection, and so far accuracy pretty good too.
Think I will be looking at a centre fire rifle next. I need a 243 compact, don't I.

I did handle a Ruger American also. I was impressed with the open sights, but it cost a fair bit more than my Savage.
 
10 stores since Boxing day and still no 22WMR ammo.
Going to get on the phone tomorrow morning to see if any body else has some. I know a couple places that I have not tried yet.
