K31 Ejection issue

Yesterday I shot my Swiss K31 for the first time. I am pleased. 1.5" at 100 yards. A very good start.

One minor glitch is that the brass is extracted, but not ejected. If I pull the bolt back gently, the brass will stand up, making it easy to pluck. This is handy for recovering the brass for reloading, but if I shoot a match with it, I might want it to eject.

This might sound stupid, but What happens when you pull the bolt back with a little more gusto?

Mine will either launch the brass far away or gently toss it at my feet, all depending how vigorously I cycle the bolt.

I just tried mine out with a spent casing and if I pull it back gently like you described it will kinda just flick it up a few inches and it will fall back into the action, I wonder if your scope is partially blocking the ejection path?

If its a stupid question feel free to ignore...

If it isnt the scope I wonder about tension on the extractor? In battery the brass is held straight and there may be a little bit of pressure on the back of the extractor if it's touching anything. It's possible that it's losing that tension as the case extracts and can't keep the grip on it that the extractor would need. Only issue there is that it would more likely leave the brass flat in the action rather than stove pipe them.

Another option might be if you've got brass with under spec rim diameter (ie formed brass from another cal). Might not grip the case or strike the ejector properly.

These are all guesses, but if the scope isn't the issue maybe try shimming the extractor to see if that improves anything or mic'ing the brass for rim diameter?

Looks like you have an extra piece in between the Swiss Products mount and the rings.
Are you using a something like Weaver Ring base to 3/8" dovetail adapter?
Your brass is most likely getting hung up on the adapter.
Ejection should be 12 o'clock to 1 o'clock ±.

I'll post in a while a video on the K31 extractor once it is uploaded to Youtube.

What would you recommend for scope sizing?

With gusto mine will eject right over my head and the casing will fall behind me.

But I'm really interested in your scope setup. What kind of mount it that if you done mind me asking?

Mine ejects upward and with enough pull force will bounce off the scope then to the left. If not enough pulling force, it hits the scope and lands back inside. It gets tricky with gloves and all to try to pick the case out so i just turn the rifle 180 to drop the empty case on the table. I put a rubber tape over the area where case makes contact with the scope for protection.

With gusto the empty is left in the action. Does your eject left or right? Maybe the scope on right is the issue.

I believe its the scope mount. I have a center mount on my K31 and it ejects straight up. Some times it flies past the mount and sometimes the case bounces back.
