I have a mka 1919 and with it being semi auto we can only get the 5 round mags for it, and now with the sap 6 for tactical imports having the 11 round mags my question is f I can't legally mod the mag to work with my gun (looks like if you cut the mag catch hole in the side of the body it would work nice) can I mod my gun to accept the mags (as long I don't touch do anything to the mag it's self) would this fall under the lar mag scenario?

You cannot modify magazines without potentially drawing the ire of the RCMP. You can however modify the firearm to accept the magazines.

Totally different situation. Lar mags are legal pistol mags. Last time i checked nobody makes a 12g pistol. Semi auto shotguns still fall under 5 round rule regardless of the mag.

Close yet sooooo wrong.

All magazines must be capped for the firearm that they were ORIGIONALY designed for. A .50 beo mag only accepts 5 rds of .50 beo, but 15 .223. If you stuff .223 in it, who cares, it still only fits 5 .50 rounds.

If you have an AIA .308 bolt action with a 10 20 or 30 round detachable mag designed for that specific rifle, that's fine, it's a bolt action and therefore does not have a cap. If that same mag happens to fit in an M14, who cares, it's a bolt action mag.

If you have a pump action SAP6 and it's 11 round mags fit in your jamomatic, I mean 1919, who cares, It's a pump action mag therefore does not have a cap.

Plus.... look what CanPost brought me today!

I understand the LAR pistol mag law and why we can use it but how does that apply to 12G mags. Do they say for pump action on the mag? Good luck explaining that to a LEO when he hears you fire 11 rounds off. At least with the LAR situation both .223 and x39 we have rcmp documents to fall back on.

Side note: anyone try a sap6 mag in a grizzly yet?
