My orange hunting vest that i have been using the past few years has done well during deer season when i typically have a backpack with me with extra clothes and food, etc for sitting in a stand for hours, but when i am just out walking around for small game, i keep wanting something different.

I keep thinking of the reflective surveying vest i used to have, but more a hunting version that has lots of pockets inside and out, but more importantly a big pocket in the back of the vest that i could keep bigger, bulky things in, like a sweater when it gets warm, water bottle, or if all goes well, a couple rabbits or partridge, but i am having a hard time finding one online or locally, most that have a gamebag are mostly green or brown with a little bit or orange, but i need full orange.

If anyone can recommend a brand, or model, or let me know what works well for you, and where i can find something like this, or if i'm dreaming and asking for too much all in one.

I have a redhead vest that i use when i run the dog on birds. Its light and has a big pocket in the back. Price wasn't too bad but it is half brown half orange.

My son and I use Columbia bird hunting vest. They have many pockets on the front, large pocket in the rear of the vest for holding birds and have fluorescent shoulder patches. We purchased ours at Wholesale Sports in Calgary.

I have several vests and my favourite is the Cabelas vest. It has numerous pockets, a large game bag, and straps for holding an extra jacket.

I would love something like that, but here in NB we need full blaze orange, just orange patches isn't enough.

My current favorite is made by a Toronto company called Golden Bay Sportswear, the vest is called a Golden Retriever, lots of shell loops, huge rear bag, you can pick them up at Home Hardaware.

I use a Cabela's Upland vest also... it is a good product... they are usually on sale this time of year.

Cabela's has this on sale now. Haven't personally used it but it appears highly rated.

Don't discount those types of vests yet, the regs state 2580 sqcms of solid Blaze visible from all sides. Thats only a 20 inch by 20 inch square.

I use this LL bean vest for upland or when doing long dogs....it's like a vest/pack hybrid. Has tons of storage and a game compartment. Not sure if it's 400 inches (I usually wear it over a blaze fleece anyway), but it's the best I've owned.

This might be a bit over the top but Warrior Gear makes a molle tactical vest in blaze orange. Pricey, no pockets but probably extremely durable and customizable by using molle pouches.

I also have the LLBean upland vest. I use it for deer hunting as well. I had a 4 snaps put on the game pouch to keep out leaves and twigs when going through the bush. I wore a cruiser vest for several years which worked for me as well. I recommend a vest with a hip belt to take some of the weight off the shoulders

There are plenty of high visibility vests that have number pockets, etc. Its been a long time but wouldn't one of these work for hunting:

I've used a Columbia for ever, love it, you would too.
Recently I bought a real tough vest for cottontail hunting the briars made by MULE. Do a Google search for Mule Hunting Vest. The quality is very impressive, will easily last a lifetime, handmade.

I love the look of those mule vests, it seems to be just what i am looking for. Now to do some searching, any tips on who carries them in canada?
