I have played with this a bit but haven't got past pulling the old primers

Trying to convert Berdan to boxer doesn't work with any cartridge.
There's no such thing as a large rifle Berdan primer either.

There are different sizes of Berdan primers, and the .217" one is what the OP is looking for. Henry at Budget has them.

Sunray, spouting off his ignorance once again.

"Better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt" lol.

Regards, Dave

Thank you so much! All these years I have been loading these large rifle Berdan primers (down to my last 10,000 box) and now I have seen the light. "no such thing as a Large Rifle Berdan primer" Where would I be without a Ray of Sun?

To the OP. If you want to try some Berdan Large Rifle primers, send me a PM. They are free.

Have fun getting those...

I phoned North Sylva as they are RWS Distributor for Canada.
The conversation was short and (anything but) sweet:
Q. Do you stock RWS 5608 or 5620 Berdan primers?
A. No.
Q. If I prepaid a retailer for bulk pack(s) of 2,000 or 4,000 could you special order them?
A. No. Anything else?

This may have actually been a good moment for me as I eventually found Henry at Budget and his Tula NATO Berdan primers work well.

Just checked Henry's web page again, here's what it said:

These are Tula Large Rifle Berdan primers that will work in most European large caliber cartridges. Non-Corrosive.
The diameter of them is .0217 inches

KV762N is the Nato (.217'') size and correct Cup height for all .217'' Berdan Pocket cases of ''European Military Rifle'' calibers (7.9mm, 7mm, 7.65mm, 8mm Steyr, Euro .30/06, Euro .303 Br., 7.62R Albania, Czech, etc. 7.5MAS, 7.5 Swiss, 6.5 Swede, 7.62 Nato.)

Thanks for all the response ,
Cheers

Op, I've done it, it works. But I only did it to see if it WOULD work, I recently bought 7.5x55 privi brass as I was finding repriming the converted brass once fired to be problematic at times.
