So a buddy of mine who shall remain nameless LoL. Shows up at my place with a bag full of SKS and tells me a horror story.
Long story short he shot corrosive out of it and forgot to clean it. Fast forward 6 months and he try's to tear it down. The gas piston is seized so in a bag it goes. Another 6 months go by and he shows up at my place and gives me a bag of parts minus the stock, bayonet and cleaning rod.
So I soaked the gas tube in Kroil over night and boom out comes the gas piston.
So I added a....
1. Archangel stock
2. Tapco Mag
3. Mag wedge Rail
4. Bushnell red-dot

Oh Its a Chinese one if that matters. It also shoots quite well.
Oh and its chrome lined and the bore is fine :)

I put my Chinese in that exact stock and left my Russian non refurb as is. Great stock. How do you like the rail? I'm considering picking one up but I still like loading with strippers. Decisions.

I have a small mountain of parts form Babba'd rifles and people's mistakes. The SKS, fortunately is one of the easiest rifles to restore. I'm confident that you can scape off the rust with a rock and make it fire again.

Had a buddy fire corrosive thru his and left it for a couple year's. Chrome bore yes, but the wire wheel got quite a workout! It's mine now.

Don't you love it when people have no idea what they're doing? Its like getting a dirt bike for free because the guy was told that the engine is blown. You take the valve cover off and reveal that it was just the exhaust valve was stuck open.

Its always the Chinese SKS that people love to bubba and I don't get why. Its more rare than the Russian SKS is in this country and can fetch a higher price tag.

I wish tapco made a mag for the sks that was straight down and not curved.

Yes or 10-15 rounds just long enough that you can grab it easy for removing and short enough you can shoot off bags without it getting in the way , strait not curve also so it isnt forward more than needed also wouldnt get in the way of a forgrip which they sometimes do with the curved banana shape.

If you're shooting stationary, or seated off bags, just use the factory fixed mag and clips.

I tend to walk around my isolated range with my SKS, so the detachable Tapcos are ideal for that. I typically load with clip as well though.

Howcome the back of the receiver cover looks so AK-ish like that?
Now I gotta go back and re-read the OP. Don't remember seeing anything about a receiver cover.

EDIT: Hmm. Nope. Unless that rail comes with that piece. Looks pretty sweet.

Its got a scope and wartak rail, so magazines make reloading much easier, I know they have 10&15 rnd mags in the states, but in Canada all ive seen is the 5/20,5/30&then those low profile 5rnd mags that look like they would definitely be a pain to remove.

That AKish look is built into the stock. Only caveat is that the action needs to be removed from the stock before the dust cover can be removed. Not a big issue with mine since I do a complete field strip after shooting corrosive ammo anyways.

fidder, maybe you can help me I am in need of the piece that hold the rear of the gas tube ( steel piece , the one with the pin hole) would be very helpful!! put it on the EE but no response .
Just thought I'd throw it out there, because you mention you had some parts kicking around.
If you can please pm me.
Cheers

The rail is really neat and sturdy. Very well made but you can't use stripper clips any more. That's why I went with a removable Tapco mag.

Why do you take the action out of the stock because you've used corrosive ammo?
