Hello, I would like to start reloading for a. 300 win mag, would like to use Hornady Amax bullets.

Would books would be recommended before I buy the gear and start reloading?

Thank you for your time.

I like to use both the bullet manufacturers book and I also look at the powder manufacturers suggestions as well . A great accuracy powder for 300 win mag is RE22. Good luck

Where would I find the powder manufacturer suggestions? Would that be referenced in the Hornady manual?

What benefits would a single stage press have over a total "one press does all" set up?

If you google the powder manufactor you plan on using , you will find there loading data as well. Myself I use Dillion's for bulk pistol but with rifle IMO you will make a better round threw single stage . I all depends what your looking to achieve

Would you recommend the dillon single stage or another brand?

I have had fantastic results with my 300 win using 208gr A-Max with 72gr of H4831sc also 3 of my shooting buddies are having similar results with same load

I would recommend (if very new to reloading) to get the abc's of reloading! I have the 8th edition, it was great learning material when I started reloaded 4-5 years ago! The author talks about everything under the sun in that book! From. Equipment, safety to benches and powders and on.
Personally I've had no problems with any hornady gear and there data shouldnt get you in any trouble even on the warm side of the scale. Provided you remember when reloading any NEW LOAD! Always work your load up! Start at the bottom of powder and try! Then look for pressure signs on your cases light flat primers or split/ting cases. Have fun.

Also just an interesting fact . When hand loading your firearm can be much more accurate with a colder load. Or maybe a middle of the road load? They are all different!

on my hunting rifle i have a 24" barrel and am getting 2750fps and my shooting partner with a 30" heavy target barrel is getting 2940fps
