Hi, just wonder if anyone has done this DIY following the instruction on youtube.

I am curious if I can replace the duck tape with a coat of clear spray paint instead which will be fast for the process. Not sure about what would be the cost and if it's worth it as all the youtube videos are from states where all the materials are much cheaper than in Canada.

give it a whirl and see!
Thanks for the posts, I have an excess amount of packing tape around, so I'll make up a few of those and try. I think I have an old can of clear spray too, so I may as well give that a whirl as well and I can try to get back and post about it within the next week or so when I get to the range next.

Id say cost will drop considerably nonetheless. Cheapest Ive seen the shoot-n-see targets is $5.99 for a pack of 5 on sale. So still over a buck a pop. For me, most of the supplies, less the construction paper, is already here - so its free. But even then, I $2-3 for a can of paint, packing tape roll for $1.00 and a pack of construction paper for $1.50; $5-10 bucks and I'll get probably 20 sheets I'd imagine.

I might even try using white backed paper as black/white contrast should be pretty easy to see if the whole target is black.

I made some earlier this week and tested them out with a 22 in the back 40. Will try with some larger calibers this weekend. Works pretty decent. I used packing tape because I had a ton. I would recommend using light coloured paper. I had this green left over and while you can see it, it's still a bit dark. I'll play with some other colors. Either way, it's quick to do, and most of us have the fixins around the house.

I made up some laminated paper targets the other day, sprayed them with flat black paint and used some orange stickers for bulls eyes. They actually worked very well.

on amazon.ca, 50 pack is $35, free shipping. but it's still expensive compared to the regular target @ 3 cents a piece(large ledger size paper) when I print myself.
that's another thought, what if I nail two bright color papers and then lay a regular ledger size target on top of it, it might be the same result. a little more expensive than paint and tape, but no work. 2 bright color cover will be 20 cents, then 3 cents ledger size target. will try it out and report back.

I have taken the sides from a oven, steel coated with porcelain, to shoot pistol at short range. The white coating chips off 1/4 inch around the bullet hole and reveals the black coating under the white. I use a felt pen to draw a cross or circle. Works well to train kids or new shooters. The oven sides happen to fit in the old style lotto 6/49 metal stands.
