Yesterday I took out a few of my guns and had a great time.

I didn't get too serious, I just went to sight in my .22-250 and play with the .22s. My new VQ carbon fibre barrel on my 10/22 is impressive. Shot very well. My apologies as I didn't take any pictures. The DIY shoot & see targets were awesome! I'll be making some more.

So here is one target I shot with the new Magnum Research .22Mag Lite at 50 yards off the Caldwell Dead Shot Field Pod...

Top left was 30g Hornady V-Max
Top right was 33g Remington V-Max
Middle was 50g Federal Hollow Points
Bottom left was 40g Winchester Hollow Points
Bottom right was 40 Remington Hollow Points.

The rife specifies to use 40g or higher... I found out that the 30g & 33g did not push the bolt back all the way on a couple of shots. The other ammo had a few ftf which I believe was from the hollow points.... I'm very happy with this .22mag and figure once it gets broken in, it may improve....

So which of the two groups tighter, the 10/22 or the MR?
Im guessing the two cost roughly the same, just ones 22lr, the other is wmr.

I found the Ruger had excellent groups with the Federal 40g Round Nose 1280fps. The 37g 1330fps Winchesters did ok as well. I need to get a new scope on before I can say for sure what I think... I absolutely love my 10/22 build, but damn..... My MR .22Mag is perfect with the VQ trigger group. Its the go to gun...

And to answer your question.... I actually have more $$ into the Ruger!!!

I've always wanted to buy one of these rifles. How do you like it, any complaints? Does it take rotary Ruger mags? Do you have any video?
Thanks

Sorry I don't have any video.

My plan as soon as I decided to purchase this gun was to toss a Volquartsen TG2000 trigger assembly in. It makes shooting sooo much better. Stock trigger sucks. I am going to install a VQ extractor, firing pin, and a bolt buffer. Other than that, I'm not doing anything to it....

The rifle is very well built and I'm extremely happy with it. Very first thing anyone will notice is how LIGHT it is. I'm going to have to weigh it...The magazine is a factory Ruger 10/22 Magnum. They recommend to use 40g or higher and I now know why as I have tried it and out of 9 rounds it didn't #### the hammer twice using 30g & 33g. Never had an issue with 40g or 50g.

I'd recommend a Magnum Research to anyone! It's pricey but to me it was worth every penny!

I am a picky guy. I am also interested in the accuracy results for various 22 WRMs. The results, however good they are, have me retreating to a good quality 22 Hornet/222 Remington instead.

Nice rifle BTW! If I was in the market for a 22 Mag semi-auto, your choice right here is the best market option currently available IMO.

Nice rifle! Stepping up to .22 mag in an autoloader is a nice jump on the fun scale. If you have a lead on 25 shot mags, or want to consolidate an order with a particular vendor that can land them, I'm in for that!

I've got a Ruger 10/22 Magnum with a Lilja barrel in a Boyds thumbhole that I haven't fired in a LONG time. I remember it shot extremely well, but I'll have to do a bunch of testing with current lots of ammo and refresh my memory.

I've got my eyes on the VQ 17WSM....if those shoot, I'm going to have to score one.

Thank you. I am actually quite picky myself.

Keep in mind I was shooting off the Caldwell Dead Shot Field Pod. I believe that if I was bench resting from the Caldwell Lead Sled I think they call it or a solid bench rest I could have tightened up the groups. However, I could take a rabbitt, grouse or s gooher in the head no issues with this beauty. I will continue practicing, that's for sure.

I was about to chase this dragon myself a few years back. Was about to actually put an offer in on a Ruger .22 Mag for almost $1K!
Someone sat me down and explained to me the cost of a .22 mag rifle plus the cost of the ammo.
Then compared it to any standard .223 Rem rifle out there and the .223 Rem cartridge.
The .223 Rem can do anything and everything the .22 Mag can plus a hell of a lot more at almost the same cost per round.

This is true about the .223. BUT, I wanted a top of the line .22 mag semi....... each to their own.

But i can't go blast Gophers with 25 rounders with my AR.
I have a Magnum lite as well. Just haven't found a optic for it that I'm completely happy with yet.
