Seeing there is a GP100 for sale on another site, my questions are:
how uncommon are these guns?
how do they compare with the regular full under lug?
do they really handle better than the full lug?
what should I expect to pay for one in excellent condition?
the revolver in question is the six inch stainless model.
Thanks

I am assuming you a looking at he Match champion model. It is only $150 different from regular GP100. I have one and like it. But just don't expect the trigger as smooth as S&W 686.

S&W are more refine gun

I simply like the look of the full lug. Half lug I guess would balance similar to its predecessor the security six. I agree the trigger on either will not be as smooth as a smith but you can shoot hot rounds all day long in the ruger while the smith dreams of what that must feel like :)...just pickin...I am ruger bias.

If it is a 6" gun it's not the Match Champion, it will be an older gun with the normal adjustable rear sight...

That's what I think it is as well. It is not new for sure.

I am not sure if I am allowed, but here is a picture from the site:

That's a gp100 half lug, I had one just like it. Mine was made in 1987. It was a great shooter, but I just prefer the look of the full under lug. They are a great gun and if the price is right and you find the half lug visually appealing, buy her up. On full power .357 loads the half lug will probably have a little more muzzle flip, but who shoots full power .357 mag at targets anyways?

Some time ago I was offered a blued GP 100, prohib.

It 'feels' on the heavy side but decent Ruger quality and shoots well. The single action trigger pull doesn't match that of a Smith nonetheless, good value for the dollar.

...I do.

I see the half-lug security sixes on the EE several times a year selling from $475.00 to $550.00. I assume that they are a security six when advertised as a GP100. I could be wrong.

The one in post 5 is a GP100. Look at the sights and shape of the frame with the two side by side as well as the grips - there is significant difference...

I have the Match Champion, and my trigger is butter smooth ! Extremely well engineered, quality is easy to see, and if you find one you can't go wrong ! A GP100 around $700 and a Match Champion about $800-850 !

The half lug is so much more apealing to my eye. If only they still made them, I'm not a fan of the flats on the Match Champion.

A fixed sight GP100 with 4.2" half lug barrel would be awesome. Even better in .41 Special.
