Hey guys,

Im new to the m14 platform so pardon me if this has been asked before (im sure it has). Anyways the plan will be to swap this rifle into a new stock. Some of the nice and expensive aluminum stock would likely provide an accuracy increase over the norc plastic. How about the archangel stock? Has anyone swaped a stock m14 into an archangel and noticed an accuracy increase without any other mods? Thanks
 
I think to get an accuracy increase due to a stock, you generally need to bed it or use a aluminum stock machined to the correct tolarance to fit the receiver. I don't know how much of an improvement to accuracy the stock contributes, but there are lots of other things you can do to improve your m14 such as unitizing your gas cylinder, trigger job, and I think there is something else. I can't remember :).
 
I had a large improvement in accuracy with my M14.ca Blackfeather RS stock.

I would suggest the easier and cheaper mods first, however:
- shimming the gas cylinder if the gas cylinder lock isn't tight enough
- the op rod spring guide (round or flutted to keep the spring from buckling sideways
- tightening the op rod guide on the barrel (if it's loose)

1- how do I know if the gas cylinder lock is tight enough?
2- is the best one from m14.ca? And should I change the spring as well for real reason?
3 how do I tighten the OP rod guid on the barrel, or know if it's "loose" for that matter

Also, any other inexpensive "accuracy" mods I should do? It's a m305 so I'm not looking for a tac driver, just some cheap tricks.

I personally like the m14.ca Black Arrow op rod spring guide, but there are other vendors, including:

you know the op rod guide is loose if it moves on the barrel.
you tighten it up by dimpling the metal of the barrel under it like so:

yeah, it's a lot of reading, but it's worthwhile.
 
I have a archangle stock that I got for christmas, I have not tried it out at the range yet but it is extremely tight and I had to fit it to the reciever and trigger group to get it to fit. It comes with a built in length of pull adjuster and cheek adjuster to allow you to instantly get a decent eye relief on your scope for quick shooting. Point is, its about 400$ compared to the 600+ that the blackfeather. However it is made of an abs polymer and not alluminum and cannot accept ar15 stocks of any kind.

I like mine. Very comfortable, very solid feeling. I've done a lot of other mods to my M14 at the same time and have only used steel cased ammo so I can't comment on any accuracy increases. In terms of fit, I had to dremel out some of it to get the trigger group to fit back in.
 
Sage EBR stock Sadlak spring, spring guide, and Sadlak grooved piston and carefully prepared ammunition I am getting 1 to 1.5MOA. This is with one of the newer ChiCom Norincos. However it is a heavy pig, weighs in at 14lbs + with scope, loaded magazine, and bi pod.
