Thoughts/advice on aftermarket 10/22 recievers

I worked with some of Joe's earlier receivers and his tolerances were tight... coupled with the fact that the Kidd bolts were designed to maximum specs caused problems in two of three cases... the other was very snug but working on the bolt sufficed... Joe took care of the other two for me... perhaps this is no longer and issue... I know that there has been a natural harmonizing of part specs because of the huge number of shooters working with the 10/22 platform.
 
they may be just reworked but i'm pretty sure they are their own
got a couple of receivers with bolts
nice stuff as is the rest of their parts

I also have the TI receiver and bolt combo
its nice but I prefer the dlask

another question? do all the aftermarket bolts, recievers etc take any and all of the aftermarket parts? IE, firing pins, extractors, pins, mag releases etc?

there are tolerances that they try to meet, most of them anyways.
so you may need to fine tune the odd piece to get it to work good.
i know historically ive had a bear of a time mixing TI stuff with any other brand, i always seem to have to remove their anodizing to get their stuff to mesh with Dlask stuff or Kidd stuff or VQ stuff.
nothing some sanding with 2000 wet and half an hour in the shop wont fix.
 
I had to sand off a thick layer of paint on a factory ruger metal trigger group
to get it to go into the TI receiver

also maybe worth mentioning
the pair of receivers and bolts I got from dlask have oversize holes for the trigger group pins with steel liners maybe stainless?

I think it a cool bonus but I dont know if this is standard
may even have been redrilled and liners added to salvage them from a previous attempt
but anyways I like it
 
hehe, not gonna go with the RIA stuff :) trying to get better than stock. And, for the info, the butt plate is not the same either. Its metal which is nice but its not the same shape or size so you can't put it on a Ruger stock.
 
I have the TI receiver with the AR15 style bolt handle...nice idea but...not very practical. You can assist the round chambering with the OEM design, you cant with this design, if the round is a little difficult to chamber you have to pull back, eject the round and start over, and if you have a scope on the rifle the handle is not ergonomically positioned. The receiver is very well made though, fit and finish wise. It is unfortunately not a product I would recommend.

I have a Dlask 0 MOA receiver and couldnt be happier. Getting a Kidd bolt to fit in it is tricky mind you. The tolerances are way tighter than factory. Also the extended rail allowed me to mount the scope further forward which I am really happy with.

Dont go sanding the shaft on the barrel when you assemble it though. Heat the receiver up with a blow dryer till its a too hot to hold. Put the barrel in the freezer for a couple hours. Then assemble it. The tighter the better.Make sure you get the extractor slot lined up.
 
thanx all! :) I am going with the Dlask 0 MOA railed one, and one of their own bolts. Deciding on a charging handle and spring etc.

Also will be getting them to install my barrel into the receiver.
