STI......word of caution

I have a edge and a lawman from STI. Both needed work before they would run fine for IPSC.

Never seen anybody buy a STI or even SVI and out of the box taken to an IPSC match with no problems. Very tight guns who have to break in 5 to 10k rounds.

ok im gonna come out and say it....

you wouldn't have this problem had you purchased a Kimber.

hahahahhahahahaha!
oh no he didnt!
oh yes i did!
and..... begin!

(sorry, couldnt resist. always STI guys hating on Kimbers, had to get my poke in when i can)

I'm trying to like STI, but it ain't working!
Convince me to drop $2000+ on a 6" 9mm TargetMaster.

If you are in the market for a longer barrelled 9mm for bullseye or PPC, there aren't any better options for a better price. it is probably as accurate as guns costing a lot more. I had a Rangemaster which is basically a 5" TargetMaster without the sights, and it was a very sweet package.

What happened to it?

Rangemaster 9mm Needed hotter ammo and ran flawlessly. Tripp 10 round mags

Sentry 9mm Runs flawlessly. Tripp 10 round mags.

Sentry 40 s & w Tripp 10 round mags, first 2 rounds nosedive. STI 8 round black mags, runs flawlessly.

Talked to Aaron at Tripp an he said it's an inherient problem with the 40 mags when you go over 8 rounds. The spacing on the 9th and 10th round become greater causing those rounds to want to nosedive.

I put my STI, Kimber, and Glock beside my S&W M&P 9 in my safe and I have let the three of them know each night before I tuck them in that if they don't perform as well as the M&P they will be cast out into the cold cold world.

So far so good.
