Hey guys, I just purchased a new 10/22 and looking at doing a tactical style stock. Looking for any opinions from you guys who have experience with different models. I can't choose between the allied arms marauder kit, the ati ar-22 kit or the archangel aa556. Any opinion would be great!

I bought a 10/22 that came with the ATI folder stock as a dealer exclusive.
The stock is pretty flimsy in the fore end, I had to carefully space up the top cover to keep it from touching the barrel and stiffen the front end to prevent side flexing into the barrel. Took a few hours, a couple of 1/8" aluminum strips and some JB weld. The bonus of the ATI folding stock(probably any folder) is that you can drill and tap an additional screw into the rear of the receiver and solidly bed the entire action.
This plus a hammer and sear kit has made this a very accurate .22 semi auto.
This was maybe 5 years ago, maybe they're a little better now. It's also a pain to remove 8 screws to get the top cover off when you're taking apart.
On the plus side, they're cheap, ergonomic and very light.

Haven't had good luck with folders. Happy with the Archangel 556 with a short bull barrel.

Would likely have tried the Troy if I had been familiar with it at the time.

Things I look at,
Weight, feel, takedown and cost.
IMO the Nomad kit is heavy. I know it matches the weight of a real G36 or very close. Not a fan.
The new ATI AR kit is great but needs to be taken apart to clean. Far more than the standard stock.
Because of the new AR stock, the price of the archangel stock has droped abit in price.
The axiom stock is 1.2lbs and has a collapsable stock and free floats the barrel. However its hard plastic not like the new Troy and ATI stock.
I dont have any experience with the troy stock.
Hope this helps.

I'm very happy with my Nordic Components build. Got the idea from GCDavidson's and Tom E Guns' builds.

Still a work in progress...

I had a Troy stock and it too was very heavy. My 22 weighed nearly as much as my AR. The Troy stock also must be removed for cleaning and its a bit of a chore. It uses a pair of cross bolts that pinch the bottom half of the chassis(where the barrel nut is on an AR) just like Troy's Alpha rail series which to me are a point of failure after repeated removal and installation for cleaning. The integral sights are solid and spring loaded, the quality is typical Troy and well done. It is expensive and in light of Troy's hiring practice my opinion is f**k Troy.

From their sites it looks like the AR style stocks are part plastic part aluminium but the ATI Strikeforce folding stock is all plastic. Can anyone confirm?

Also... Federal Ordinance used to make a underfolder metal/wood stock for the 22... Is there anyone doing something like that (or side folder, but wood/metal) these days for a reasonable price?

TDC did you have the tactical T22 covered in tactical crap with a heavy barrel or something? With a T22 sport and 16" SR22 bbl mine was really lightweight. I loved it.

Skip the tacticool crap and get a nice barrel and trigger put in it.
If you want to play GI Jane, get a real AR.

It was the trainer with the Alpha rail, I have no use for quad rails on anything. I really liked the stock but it was heavy and a PIA to take apart for cleaning. It also didn't work with a shorter barrel as no one makes a 14" threaded medcon/lightweight barrel. With the weight and the wear issues associated with disassembly it was losing praise. The no go for short barrels and Troy's hiring of a scumbag were enough for me to dump it.

Can't legally play GI Jane with an AR in the field, nor can you do it on the cheap.
