Tactical Preacher sells a nice heavy set with high visibility handles.

Tactical Preacher...LOL. Gotta love spell checkers.

On the castle nut pliers, I got a pair from him...Barney is the best. The pliers are the same as the ones from Brownell's.

Sure, take a 3lb vise grip welding clamp that costs 2-3 times as much as the proper tool and spend an afternoon grinding it hoping you won't screw it up or gouge the crap out of your rifle using it. Why not buy a rubber tired backhoe and make one?

In all seriousness Barney was shipping these things very cost effectively and it's a nice thick tool that will give you a lifetime of castle nut turning pleasure.

Princess auto and Chinese Tire you can pick them up for under ten bucks when they go on sale.......2nd hand store $5

Yeah, I made a set out of a pair of vise grips I found in the glovebox of an old truck I bought. Dremeled 'em up all nice, works like a charm. Just make sure you remove the castle nut set screw first!

Well then whats the price of barney's castle nut pliers?
I agree if they are reasonably priced vs buying vice grips and having to grind them down to work then its a better way to go.
vice grips (real ones at least) aren't exactly cheap, and cheaper ones(knock offs) tend to slip and slide to the sides in my experience.
and that is all it takes to scrape the bluing/parkerizing off a rifle unnecessarily.

$22 shipped to my door. Order in can't go wrong with that price

well there ya go. its 20$ just for the cheaper mastercraft vicegrip style c-clamp let alone the actual vicegrip branded ones.

Mastercraft are actually pretty damn good locking pliers. The only two brands of locking pliers that are actually good is Vicegrip and Mastercraft. For what ever reason, every other brand is garbage. Since its new job would be to simply remove a castle nut, really good locking pliers would be redundant.

It's like using a sledge hammer to put finishing nails in. What else are you going to use your modified vice grips for? You guys do what you like but myself I like to have the right tool.
