M305 Good Or Bad Condition

Okay, just to be fair. The original owner of this rifle approached me to fix a chainsaw he had. A Husky 365xp. I fixed the saw, all it was, was the air bleeder for the gas tank was plugged with sawdust and wasn't allowing the fuel line to pick up fuel and feed it to the saw. So I fixed that saw and my payment was $100 or this M305 for $300. I obviously picked the M305.

That Marstar image sure brings me back. They had a "TacPack" special for 500.00 or something like that when I picked up mine from them. My first online gun purchase and I haven't looked back.

Even at $400 that's a good deal considering today's prices of $550-600. To blow out a vent line and get it for $300 is one of those deals we all dream about :)

From the pics it appears the op rod is aligned pretty good with the gas system. Is the op rod guide tight as well? If it is and the rifle checks out on a headspace check, you got a smokin deal. Nice score!

I don't know what would be considered tight. The op rod has a tiny bit of up and downward play but just a tiny bit. I'm not sure what the headspace is like on it but the original owner told me he has fired 500 rounds of various different kinds of ammo. His reason for letting it go to me is simply because he wanted his saw working again and he wanted to make a switch to a SKS for cheaper ammunition. Also, the rifle came with a little bundled up brick of surplus 7.62x51. Maybe 100 rounds. There is no label on it for me to know without opening it and counting.

If its copper washed its probably the Norinco surplus. Decent plinking ammo, but thats it. Great looking rifle, you will enjoy it i am sure!!

What I meant by tight is not the op rod but the op rod guide that the op rod runs through about halfway down the barrel. Only reason I ask is that mine had a pretty sloppy fit on the barrel and my op rod only contacted the gas plug about 50%. Ended up pulling mine off and knurling the barrel to tighten up the guide and realign the op rod to the gas system. The fact that your op rod and gas system lined up, I was just curious.

Oh that. Mine is kind of loose but I wouldn't say its sloppy loose.

loose is loose. it should be tight without any movement. still a smoking deal.

doesn't look like a norinco at all :p
