had a few yotees on my camera feeding off some dumped canola so thought i would see
if i could drop a couple.

within five mins of getting to my spot the first dawg comes out.
bloody crappy 50 beowulf mag failed to feed a round....that one ran off.
got my dollar store dog bone out and started squeaking.within two mins another
dawg comes in and i completely missed that one.

so off to another part of the field.set myself up in the tree line and started to give it all with my ruffi dawg call.
bugger, within two minutes i had three dawgs coming straight at me and one to my right.
i called two in to around 80 yards as the third of the group sat tight.
dropped one DRT and missed the other as it ran full pelt across the field.

You aint killing dogs if the lead isnt flying !!!!
One for three isnt bad either, Thanks for taking the time to take a picture and post it and your story.
?interesting winter coat on that dog too.
I might go and try for a Bobcat this set of days off and if lucky there will be a story too.
Keep dropping those dogs ,
Rob

You sure seem to have issues with that firearm/magazine combo feeding properly? Same thing in the pig hunting thread. I'd be looking into something a bit more reliable myself but thats just me.

I had a few issues one day this past season with an SX1 failing to fire/feed on a duck/goose hunt. I wasn't in the door ten minutes and was researching on Shotgunworld.com for a gunsmith specializing in SX1's. Took me all of 10 minutes and I was on the phone to a shop in Illinois. Twenty minutes later a complete rebuild kit was on its way along with instructions from the shop owner over the phone on two points to check and how to swap the parts properly. One week later the parts were here and the next day off work the gun was torn down, repaired, put back together and to this day is cycling like a dream. I cannot stand lost opportunities to malfunctioning equipment, especially if its an easy fix.

For coyotes I shoot a Ruger #1, if I have a fail to feed with it I'll be looking close at my fingers to make sure I didn't lose one of them?!! ;)

Good to see you still managed to put one down though! Good job!

@thespank yeah mate those plastic 50 cal beowulf mags are the $hit$
sticking with the LAR metal pistol mags,i am getting more bangs for my bucks

you could always swap it back to stock and get some G36 Pmags, I have never had a failure with the mags that were designed for this rifle.

Could you elaborate on this a little more ie. what the hell is that?
:)

the green toy bone acts like a mouse squeak, but it doesnt work if you dont keep it in your pocket
( in -30c sask weather it doesnt).it works well for me in small clearings or cutlines.
in larger areas i use the orange ruffi dawg, the small brass disc is an old rabbit squealer from the UK
and the green one was given to me and i havent got round to trying it out yet

That is a great idea! I was looking for one of the actual squeekers, but that could just stay in a side pocket. One of them rubber chicken squawkers would probably work too lol.

they are really good for size if you hunt alone as i either stick in my teeth(not posting any photos) or in the palm of your hand
as you hold your rifle.
these 'bones' work good on the young pups and in the cutlines in the bush.

one dawg gets my koch .....and another today and now another

went down to a different place and and called til i was blue in the face.
nothing

walked over a 1/4 section towards a frozen slough and started to call again.
three dawgs came running across towards me.
two sat on the edge of the treeline and one quartered me to get down wind.
lost sight of him a few times due to the field,so i stood up.
there he was around 130 yards from me.plugged him straight in the head, dead.
