Apparently I live in a dimly lit cave

Just purchased my first AR went cheap and norinco has always been good enough for me. Picked up a DA556 from Canada ammo. Wanting a quad rail for it I started shopping around and low and behold some DA556'S come with quad rails. Those of you who have them are they any good? Did you swap them out? Are they norc made or something added by the store?

I swapped mine out, only because I wanted to float my barrel.

It's not stable enough to mount any sort of sight on.

Nothing wrong with it otherwise.

new ones do not come with quad rails.

Yes... I really should dig it out and list it. It does use a proprietary barrel nut with indexing pins.

I had some notion of keeping all of the stock parts and putting the rifle back together if I ever sold it, but it has since evolved to the point where the only norc parts left are the complete upper and barrel - lol

And that was for no other reason than I got into "Have first AR-15: must farkle" mode. Kinda wish I had left it bone stock - I'd still have a decent carbine, and money enough for a second upper in something else.
