Shorten PAL Approval Times

That is a long time. Have you tried calling the CFC toll free number? Every time I call I get through within 5mins, so you shouldn't have to take any time off work to make a phone call.[/QUOTE

I had called I believe in late November and was told they were backlogged. I have called 3 times in the past and the wait was anywhere from 10-30mins before my call was taken add the 2+ times they put you on hold and you have yourself a 20-60min phone call.

Day 131 and still no change on the site, has anyone else experienced long wait times applying in N.B? I can't help but wonder why the long wait; our population is nowhere near that of any central or western province and yet still the 45 days has been tripled with no change... I really would not like to take time off work to call, be given the runaround and be told not to call back its processing.
did you answered YES to any of the questions in section C ?

My update: Took my course on Oct 25/26 for RPAL. Waited for results like my instructors told us to. Sent Application in on December 1st express post with signature required. Miramichi received my application with results attached on December 3. Today (Jan 7th) It appeared on website stating that the application has entered the initial processing. I'm getting excited now!!!

Thanks for the update. Mine was received by Miramichi on Dec 4 so maybe mine will show up tomorrow.

Sent mine in Nov 24, received Nov 28. It showed up in the system on Monday in the "Initial processing stage". Once I saw it online, I called in to confirm all my information and asked about interviews. Was told to call back in "2-3 weeks" as they should be ready by then. After I confirmed my information my application showed as "in process" on the site.

One thing i did instead of going through the cgkey etc steps on the rcmp site was just checking my online banking. If my credit card was charged, i know the application was online. The nice fella on the toll free line told me that the payment processing was done at the same time as the data entry so its a good indicator

They received my applications on October 30th, I called in today and spoke to a woman within 5 minutes, I now have my file number and an extension to give to my refrences. The lady on the phone was nice to talk to and she told me it would be faster if my refrence called in before I even asked about my info or any deficiencies, to date that has been the most painless experience I've ever had with a member of the RCMP.

Application Shipped: Thurs, Dec 4th (Canada Post - Priority Mail 2 Day)
Application Received: Mon, Dec 8th
Application Online: Thurs, Jan 8th

Called and spoke to a very nice lady. She told me to call back in 2 weeks before I have my references call in. Anyone else experience this?

Was just told the exact same thing yep. Give it a couple of weeks I was told, not sure why but the wait continues.

Hmm, that's weird, just wait longer. I called today around 11 and she suggested to me that I get my references call in.

What did yours say online when you called? Looks like they recieved yours about 6 weeks before ours so they've had it sitting there for more then twice as long. Seems like the title of this thread is now obsolete, perhaps it would be better served as a guideline as to current processsing times as opposed to ways to speed things up.

"Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.". Yeah, that's why I posted the details of my progress, they have my applications for a pal and rpal. My reference called them today also.

It is still a way to speed things up. I think some of the original posts inform ppl that they do not have to wait for their test results to come back before sending in the application. They can simply send it in with a notation saying that results will follow. Most ppl wouldnt know to do this as their instructors usually tell them to wait for the results. This will initiate your mandatory 28 days window and def shaves 2 weeks off your wait time.

Definitely call in as opposed to waiting for your reference to be called but what most ppl fail to realize is that you do have to give it 1.5 weeks or so from the day it goes online. They still have to do their background checks before speaking to a ref. Dont just call on day 1 of it being online, all that means is the data was entered.. most likely there have been no background checks initiated this early in the application. From my recent experience and also 2 friends; If you call in at the right time, they will ask you to have a ref call in....if you dont call in, they will call a ref on their own clock.

How long is the wait typically from when the application appears online? Is this when the 45 day typical processing starts? My application took 7 weeks to just show up online. This does include mail time, so I will remove a week for that, so that's 6 weeks. So, it took almost the 45 days just to show up online. My application and record are clean, I'm applying for a NR PAL so I should expect it not to take too long from now...

when did you send in your paperwork? I know in Nov and early december they were backlogged, i was told due to the high amount of applicants for hunting season. The holiday hours didnt help either around xmas. Mine took 5 weeks to appear online, then about another 3.5 weeks before it was approved. In that 3.5 weeks, christmas and new years happened so prob added 3-4 days to the process if the office was closed. Hope this helps
