Stiffer trigger spring = lighter pull?! (Geissele 3gun)

Shooting about 200rds, I was having some light strike issues (on a 22lr upper) last night running the Geissele 3gun trigger with the lighter trigger spring. Talked to a buddy who runs a similar system and he told me that he runs a milspec trigger spring, so I changed out the Geissele trigger spring for the generic one in the lower parts kit. Now, my trigger pull went down from just under 3lbs when I tested it after assembling the lower, to just under 2lbs now. Is this to be expected?! Was the weight drop just due to the trigger having got some exercise? WTF happened here? Thanks in advance for any insight you guys can offer!

P.S. To preclude any comments about the overly light weight, this gun is to be used for competition, so I don't mind the light weight as long as I don't get light strikes.
 
A light trigger doesn't work with my Spikes .22 conversion kit.... Not enough power to set off the rimfire....
 
Thanks for the heads up.. For now I replaced the trigger spring with the one from the DPMS lower parts kit. Should I also replace the hammer spring while I'm at it or leave it as-is?
 
Light strike issues have nothing to do with the trigger. The hammer spring can though. If you simply touch a 2 pound trigger it'll go off. Too light in that kind of rifle.
I'd just try different ammo. All semi-auto .22's are like that. You have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo your rifle will both shoot well and cycle the action.

The dents on the brass were a lot lighter than when fired with the 10/22 or the Mk II. In any case, I replaced both springs and will test some other ammo even though my variety is limited due to current shortage. The only other possibility is the combination of the smaller striking surface on the S3G trigger and the loose fit between the receivers (the upper's a bit smaller than it should be) - maybe the hammer isn't striking the pin square-on. I will test that with another lower.

In other news, I just got back from the range (the drive was an adventure on all season tires lol)... Got the best results with the Geissele 4lb trigger spring and milspec hammer spring - about 1-2 ftf's per mag, definitely harder strikes. That's comparable to the results I was getting with my bone-stock Core-15 lower and my buddy's bone-stock NEA lower. There could be some issues with the NEA upper, but I'll withhold my judgment until I get my hands on the CMMG upper.
