just kinda wondering here now ive owned a hand gun for little less than a year now and I know that I needed a membership to buy the thing but I never shoot it and I was wondering if it is legal to still keep it but not renew my membership or if I should just be safe and cough up the 100 bucks? thanks...

Might depend on where you are.
Some CFOs ask to see club records to see who's coming and going and not using their membership for shooting.

The question at hand is where are you getting a membership for $100!?[/QUOTE}

I belong to two clubs here in NB....one outdoor range only and one both outdoor and indoor. Cost of the first is $65year and the second $72 + $2 per visit to the indoor range. You must live in the wrong place ;)

Wow I'd love to go to that indoor one lol tired of outside always, then again my membership is 40 a year lol yup nb again!

As long as you have an RPAL, keeping the handgun is perfectly legal. Its your gun, and as long as you've got a licence for it you can keep it, or sell it, or shoot it (pending you have an ATT of course)

They will not issue an ATT without a club membership, and they might stall the transfer of any new restricted firearms you may buy without a club membership. The ATT I just got is good for 4 years (til when my licence expires) so if yours is the same, you can continue to use your restricted at ranges if you go and buy a daypass or whatever too.

Sweet thanks man

Mine are $95 a year and $3.25 per range trip to the indoor to pay for targets. Shooting trap on Sundays is $4.00 a round I believe

I've heard some crazy prices for the big city ranges! What do you pay?

Over $300 i think it was for my initial membership plus $40 in round trip fuel costs every visit. Plus one time fees of $30 att course plus $30 indoor 24/7 access plus $30 holster course plus plus plus. Outsude of the fuel costs the other costs are actually pretty cheap compared to other ranges.

To the OP, you could always ask for the 'collector' status to be added to your RPAL.

To be a collector you need to;
- Show interest in this or that
- There are no qty requirement, your handgun is the 1st one in your collection
- Should the CFO refuse to give you the 'test', ask for a refusal in writing...
