What are your thoughts on the NEA-15?

I'm not sure what TDC was referring to as he's been on my ignore list for a long while already, but I personally think their design is laughable, I don't mean the rail itself but the attachment point where they just leave a gap and squeeze is almost insulting. I could never settle for NEA not even with your money, the fact they more than once suggested to use a frakkin mallet to make their part fits sums it up. I can't believe they are in aeronautic, good luck with that flyboys lol.

I'll say farewell too, in case I get the banhammer myself now... NEA is dangerous to speak of here. That's reason in itself to avoid them IMHO.

Can I see a picture of what your talking about?

Just an FYI, I think you're referring to the original rail system. It's been a year...maybe even 18 months since they used that one.

The guy was borderline....

He's borderline Something all right....

While on the subject of hand guards, do you know, Ryan, if they plan to come out with a lightweight option at any point? Just something along the lines of a modular tube or some such? Most vendors seem to offer something along the lines of light n simple and full tactical in their lineup.

could be, I dont follow them so maybe they changed that, but they did submit a 300BLK SBR with that set up to my employer a couple months back. And it had that rail, which was crooked and the sights were misaligned and needed to be adjusted all the way to the side to be on target at close range. That is unnacceptable and i<m very happy the people trying the gun picked up on it, cause it would have sucked to bet my life on a crooked piece of...

yours look really good, and trust me I want to like NEA, or I should say wanted... I just can't. they have good intentions, but too much of a hard time making it right before selling it.

it was only a couple months ago tho, nowhere near 18 months so who cares. I didn't even mention anything else than the rail here. Keep in mind that was a rifle submitted for duty use, one they hoped to get a contract from. Imagine how much they care about your personal gun if they submit something like that. I'll just leave it at that.

NEA only has to fulfill enforcement guidelines 3.2.2 from the competition bureau to be able to stamp "made in Canada"

Fwiw.

Hi Guys,

Looking to get an NEA-15 in the 5.56 14.5 inch barrel with 12 inch quad rail.

What are your thoughts on this rifle? Any caveats? Things we know don't work, things to beware of? Picky on Ammo?

Thanks!

There is better for less, definitely better for more. Then again if you say anything bad about nea the shills descend upon you with a banhammer, so Greatest gun ever.

If you think that's what happened you weren't paying attention. I said outright that the early generation rails, like on the rifle I had, were unfit for mounting iron sights but I don't see any pink under my name.

I just noticed something on another thread; care to take a pic of the way that rail bolts up from the 6 o'clock?

Certainly! Sorry it's a crappy pic, I just grabbed it with the iPad in the interest of being quick about it. And fwiw, I bought this rail a year ago so NEA has been making this style of rail for 12-18 months as Ryan said - your comment of, "it was only a couple months ago tho, nowhere near 18 months so who cares." is clearly wrong.

the rifle tryout was only a couple months ago, you are gonna argue that with me? how would you even know?
I was under the impression the pic my co-worker showed me was of the previous rail set-up honestly, I think it still might be, but anyway... they just moved the damn "squeezed gap" to the 6 o'clock. thats how you bolt up a rail? by stressing aluminium? that is space age alright... have a look at a DD RISII or a Geissele MK1 etc. thats how its done right.

Of course I wouldn't argue when your rifle tryout was. But why don't you do a little more research before assuming that your "tryout rifle" was a current version. By all means though, offer your advice to the OP based on your experience with NEA rifles - pics a coworker showed you 2 months ago

I can understand that people don't like the aesthetics of the "squeezed gap" whether it's at 3 and 9 like on the old version or at 6 o'clock on the new version. But you on the other hand have called the rail "laughable" and are now worried about "stressing aluminum" and throw in the "space age" sarcasm????? Seriously?
If you ever get a chance to actually SEE and HOLD and DISASSEMBLE an NEA handguard in person you may realize just how wrong you are. Until then, just keep on hatin' ;)

YA but IX is pretty smart you know, I don't care what anyone else says about him. All his sarcasm aside, I bet the pictures his buddy showed him are pretty accurate, and after all he is pretty sure he tested the right version of rifle.

Yep his argument is full of holes like his logic and sense of humour.

I've often wondered about the squeeze gap. It's never bothered me, but does anyone know why it's done like that? I assume there must be a reason.

Because it works?

I wonder what the Enlightened here think of Troy with their 3 hinky little clamping nuts holding their Alpha rails on? Mine certainly never ended up straight enough to mount ought but a bipod on...

I took an NEA rail off to change a muzzle device, put it back on. #### didn't fall off.
