Mini 14 in France

The video is titled "assault port de vincennes" and you can see the unedited french spec op takedown of the loser Jihadi. I speak French and found it fascinating to listen to the team leader yell out (in french) "allright lads let's go!" One team member jumps into the shop and goes hard right in a flanking move while everyone else puts lead downrange. I can't help but think that a 12ga with 3" nitro magnum buckshot would have been fantastic in that close range situation. Wonder why no teams use the old 12ga!?

lol 12 gauge. Other than breeching and birdhunts a rifle does what a shotgun does, only better. and buckshot when there is hostages around? Really?

It's to bad that so many agencies have gotten myopic in their thinking and planning. A stainless mini with the factory folder was pretty much the ideal trunk gun. Instead they're all on the M4 gadget gun bandwagon.

On exactly what front would a bulky underperforming dinosaur like the mini14 manage to be a better trunk gun that a 14.5 inch or shorter m4 variant?

And if you need a folding stock model why not a g36c or g36k?

At close range buckshot does not spread out in its pattern, clearly spec ops teams need to listen to me and hire me as a consultant. Sure, I only have a single shot 12ga but I am confident I would have stopped the terrorist with one 3" nitro mag buckshot round.....probably.....!

LOL Laugh2

On a sidenote I didn't seen any of the sf with the HK416. Where were these guys?

It still amazes me he got to the feet of the officers before dropping.
If he had a suicide vest, things would of went so very sideways.
They must of known he didn't.

Yup the spec ops teams had hacked into the cc tv and we're watching his every move. Once he started his final prayers....time for boom boom.

You're going to break the internet writing things like that

Alright, I might be a lil' bit creative with my choice of firearms. Now, my next critique is why in the world were they using fmj 9 mm ammo!?! Had I been in charge all my team would have had hi cap Glocks chambered in 45acp with Hornady critical defence ammo. That boy would have had the wiggle shot out of him right quick like.

Isn't the FFL filled with murderers, rapists and all sorts of society vomited criminals? don't they get amnesty for their crimes when signing up?

I think that is a little bit overstated. Back in the ol' days the FFL did take pretty much anyone who could pass their brutal basic training, these days they have tightened up their recruitment a bit. But wait a minute, have a look at the USA recruitment over the last decade; pretty much anyone who can pull the trigger has been accepted into the US forces. While the FFL may accept folk with questionable backgrounds, the recruits still have to pass and continue to perform in a highly focused environment. Bottom line: I prefer hard core SOB's protecting me.....!

Yes, I am having trouble finding a numerical break down. Wikipedia has the numbers that I thought reflected actual strength, but, as in all things Wikipedia, I want to find a more credible source. I remember a statement by Lewis McKenzie in which he stated that you could put the entire Canadian Army in the Air Canada Centre and still have lots of available seating...however, he didn't provide any numbers.

La Legion will accept people within its realm who have commited minor or "not too bad" offences. Crimes ranging from petty theft and assault to running out on alimony will be overlooked if you can pass the somewhat gruelling physical and psychological requirements. Anyone asking to join will be vetted through Interpol and turned in if the crime is major.

As mentioned on another reply: the U.S. have accepted far worst into their ranks through the last 8-10yrs as their need for manpower far outweighed their moral outrage just as the French took in scores of SS prisoners for their campaign in Indochina back in 1946-54.

regular army is 50% so its 34,000.

"Among reservists, 70% were in the army, 9% air force and 15% navy, compared with 50%, 32%, and 18% for regular personnel"

They're budget cutting, double dippers left, Be surprised a lot of civilian personal. When I worked base maintenance, it was 3 civilian mechanics for 1 Mil pers. Also with a lot of cases of PTSD, rather ditch then fix the problem. So the numbers are mega low.

Don't get too concerned about troop numbers.....the Iraqi army had big numbers (on paper) until the saudi (and you know who else) backed irregulars smoked em. Quality over quantity any day lads...
