Good day MD,
I was wondering about the availability of 9x19 Sig P226 MK25 and MK25 FDE pistols here in Canada. I can't seem to find any in-stock at any retailers here that I would be able to buy from. Some retailers I've contacted have stated Sig doesn't provide a time for an ordered pistol and it could be anywhere from 1 month to 6 months. I was wondering if you could shed any light on this issue?
I don't mind waiting a month, or even two, to get a pistol I'd keep for life but anything more than two months with my money tied up is a bit excessive. Since you're the distributor for Sig I thought maybe you would have better first-hand knowledge or be able to help me get one of these pistols?

Thanks!

Sig seems to have constant supply/availability issues in Canada.
Back in the day when I got my Mk25 (early 2014), I also wanted to get an Equinox version (to have it for what Texans call "a Court Gun":)) but it was out of stock, now it's the other way around.

MDC here: Do not promote grey-marketing non-dealers in our paid forum.

You could pre-order/custom order it with some dealers, but their posted lead-times are usually pretty long as you have already noticed.

Finally, why not just get a 9mm P226 with night sights? It's essentially the same gun as Mk25 (same dimensions, same weight, same trigger pull, has accessory rail too), minus the engraving. At least one other dealer has it in stock now for $1049.

Or, I would just recommend waiting it out, they will come back in stock eventually, and quite possibly within the same timeframe as custom ordering it. Patience is a virtue when it comes to Canadian firearms market.

Good luck!

one thing to consider also is how many and which mags comes with the gun depending where you get it from. As per Sig the MK25 comes with 3 phosphate coated Mecgars 15rds mags... Mine, ordered at CRAFM/MD Charlton came with 2 10rds mags and is actually labeled (even on the UID) as a MK25-10, but the good folks at MD hooked me up with a free third 10rds mag no problem. Still they are made in the US 10rds, not made in Italy 15rds and dont have the right finish.

Another thing we noticed (we ordered 3) one of them doesn't have the UU... serial like MK25 is suppose to have, which indicates the frame is US made if im not mistaking (if i remember correctly it has a U...). That one actually came with 3 mags in the box tho.
Anyway, ask questions before buying if you care about the details is all I am saying. It is a fantastic gun without a doubt and MD are good folks.

heres a pic of mine before I cooked the preserving oil on it ;)

I wouldn't say that if your serial # doesn't start with the "UU" that you have a "fake" it appears that SIG had changed serial #'s on some of it's pistols? the certificate of authenticity (COA) which comes with the MK25 has the UU code for the prefix, you then simply write in your serial #.

Not saying it's fake, some don't even have the anchor...
But the serial should start by UU, the anchor should be there, it should come with 3 phosphate coated made in Italy mags and should be labeled MK25 no -10 to be even closer to the real thing (or to have everything it was marketed to have I should say). The blank cert is kind of pointless really, especially if you can't even match your serial to the UU... devil is in the details.

We have a (combined) few dozen pistols on order; just waiting for delivery . A very limited allotment arrived earlier this week, and will be making their way to dealers this week. Stay tuned for the dealers to advertise (if they have any surplus). If you are interested in acquiring the MK25 (D), I strongly suggest you special order on from your preferred dealer, as these pistols sell out quickly.

The time frame you were quoted is somewhat of a legacy boiler plate answer; some gun shop employees issue the most common, cover-all answer (which is unfortunate). A more realistic time line is six to 12 weeks; barring any crazy change in US demand.

Final point on this pistol; the MK25 series are the most commercially demanded model of 226 offered. Delivery delays may occur.

This point is an unfortunate reality.

The MK25 is shipped with three (3) 10 round mags. We had a slight mix-up with your pistol, which we were able to correct.

In the US, 15 round mags are supplied (usually produced by Mec-Gar). As we are not permitted to pin mags in Canada. As a result, we are only able to supply 10 round mags (produced by Check Mate). The interweb will tell you the Check Mate mags are inferior, which is simply incorrect. All of our commercial demo mags are Check Mate, and we have not had a single mag issue throughout all of the demo and IPSC shoots we attend.

As to your serial number concerns; when the MK25 was released, Sig was using 226 frames with the "UU" prefix. These frames have been consumed, and Sig is now using "47A" as the serial prefix.

I'm waiting for MD to give me a shout to see if I can get one of these. I trust them and if they say it's a MK25 then it's a MK25.

Thanks for the new frame serial info I wasnt aware of that detail, pretty sure everyone noticed I like details lol.
All this thing about mags and -10 makes perfect sense considering our laws, and was explained to me by you guys on the spot when I asked. I just tought potential buyers should know as we learned that from personal experience.
We had irreprocheable service from MDC for a custom order of 3 MK25.
And your right about the mags, the 10rds never had an issue so far, the two 15rds I bought aside failed to slide-lock on empty a couple times.

Interesting of you to mention that. I've been having the same issue with my MK25 lately (consistently failing to slide-lock on empty), and still can't figure out what's going on. Mine, being Canadian-market unit, came with three 10-rd mags. I've been doing the research on this issue and even stumbled upon an article where this was explained by a poor grip (and despite the fact that I don't have this issue with any of my other handguns, I still worked my gripping technique to death with no improvement and then started thinking that something was wrong with the recoil spring). It'd be curious to test it with different mags, will do that next time I'm at the range.

We have both models in stock and supply from MDC has been pretty constant.

Thanks for all your help MD!

I found a local retailer, that I like, that has one in stock (according to the interwebz). I am going there tomorrow and if there it shall be mine. The FDE version of course. I shall report back.

Well, however embarrassing that feels, I still need to follow up on my comment here to set the record straight. After further trial/error and research, I did trace my issue back to my grip. I'm used to a thumbs forward grip, and keeping both thumbs as close to the firing line as possible. And the most comfortable position for my right hand thumb was exactly over the slide lock lever, which I didn't really notice. Here's a video explaining the P226 grip that helps prevent the slide lock failure from occurring (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHEkP6Xnc5s&feature=player_embedded). I'm now retraining myself for this grip and it seems to be working very well for me.

I've had the same issue on both Sig Sauer and Glock pistols with my big thumbs. I actively make sure during firing that my thumb is not near the slide release. It sometimes still happens. Tap/rack/lockback.
