Wildcat Composites Recoil Pad Installation

Neither here nor there.
Just picked up a Wildcat Composites ultralight stock as a winter project and wanted to ask the guys that have finished one. Did you use screws or adhesive only to install the recoil pad? There doesn't appear to be anything for the screws to bite into in the butt.

Any tips and suggestions appreciated.
 
Epoxy only. If you aren't cutting it, just scuff up the plate and glue on the new pad. If you are cutting it, use your fingernail and push the foam down around the Fiberglas edges so the epoxy can bond to the Fiberglas not just the foam. Hope that makes sense... That's how Stuart (owner of wildcat) suggested to do it, and I have done probably 20 like this without issue.

I have one as well that needs a recoil pad. Wasnt sure which size of pachmayr grind-to-fit pad to get so I just ordered a set of brass recoil pad templates to make sure.
Figure for $20'ish, it's a tool I'll use again in the future.
 
His m7 patterns use a medium sized decelerator. I also often remove the plate from the backside of the pad so I have a few of the inserts on hand.
 
I've had to cut all of my wildcats to get a proper length of pull. I cut out a half inch of foam and then fill with fiberglass and resin and screw into it.
 
I do the same remove a bit of foam top & bottom fill with fiberglass and resin, remembering to rough up the inside of stock a bit. Drill and use self tapping screws to cut thread

Whatever I have on hand. Usually lepage 5 min - which is a pretty low grade, bought in the hardware store epoxy. Sometimes if I am feeling extra special I will use acraglass gel. Doesn't seem to matter much, I have never had one come loose.
 
:agree: I used 5 minute JB ClearWeld myself. I roughed up both surfaces with 60 grit sandpaper and wiped down with rubbing alcohol prior to applying. Using a .60 pad made the job pretty simple as I didn't have to cut the stock.
