I picked up a pair of Erma lugers a little while back, an EP-22 and an LA-22, neat little guns, and a lot of fun to shoot when they aren't jamming :mad:
Does anyone know if there are any sources for magazines for these in Canada?

I'm in the same boat with a Stoeger Luger 22, can't find mags. I don't think you will find a source in CA.

Try Numrich h.tp://www.gunpartscorp.com

P.S The Stoeger runs like a clock (no jams etc etc what so ever) and has a great trigger. Better than my Buckmark.

An Erma .22 was the handgun I had. Hotter or high speed ammo fed through it more reliably so perhaps trimming down the toggle spring would help? That would be my guess but ask a gunsmith.

Not as nice as a real luger in the hand cheaply made and generally unreliable is my impression of the Erma's.

it looks like mine is a problem with the magazine, its jamming the nose of the round into the top of the chamber, I've tweaked the feedlips a little and I'm taking it to the range today to see if its any better.

Squeezing the lips a little should fix it.

That's exactly what I did and it seems to have fixed it, had it to the range today and it worked much better, I was using 36gr Federal ammo, which wasn't powerful enough to reliably cycle the action, next time I take it out I'll bring some 40gr and see if it works better, if not I may have to play with the springs a little

I have to say I'm very impressed with the accuracy, its a tack driver at 20 yards as long as I do my part

Unique mechanism the Lugers. I know nothing about the 22's but the 9mm's want a slow round with lots of spring under the magazine follower. It's a kwerk required to properly digest the straight walled round.
If you have enough magazine pressure you can run ' Sub-gun' ammo through it, reduce the spring pressure and it'll run poorly.
But as I said "This is the 9 x 19 round "
Maybe some of this theory could be applied to the 22, I'd almost think not though. That'd be too easy.

as far as I know the .22s share pretty much nothing other then the basic look and the toggle link with the real Lugars.

I'd love to get my hands on a real one someday, but right now the cost of buying a prohib and having it rebarreled is a bit out of my price range, so for now I just play with the .22s :d

Hmmm, Wiki seems to have an opposite view from what I've read.
Does the bbl recoil a short distance on the .22's as well?

no the barrel is fixed to the frame, the .22 operates as a straight blow back design with the toggle basically just being along for the ride

here it is broken down;

the toggle link;

trigger assembly;
