My new SVT-40!

Wanted to get into the semi auto reds and was set to get a SKS, but after a bit more research, I decided to save up to get myself a SVT-40. So finally got one and cleaned it up.

Not too shabby, 1941 Izhevsk, all matching (of course, with an electro-penciled bolt) except for magazine. 6 port muzzle brake and grooved rails.

I love this guns, wish I never sold mine. Might pick up another, take out firing pin and hang it. It never saw much range time but was super awesome looking.

Why not? It's not like it's a registered NR rifle, not much anyone can do with the number. I know I enjoy seeing red rifle serial numbers and other stampings.

Good looking svt, the new one I picked up from Corwin is very light in color as well compared to the darker one I already had.

Unfortunately I didn't get it from one of our sponsors. I had looked, but with shipping etc....it was a bit out of my price range or they didn't have one without repairs + grooves.
I managed to get this at Wholesale Sports and got to select it (luckily it wasn't that busy).

As for posting the serial numbers, I thought most military surplus owners like to do it....as someone out there always has some interesting info on particular ranges, years, etc....far more than than any knowledge I have. I find that one of the most intriguing things of owning these guns.

I've been going back and forth on if I want to make the bolt carrier silver....I do think it looks nicer as silver.....sigh.

One thing about this SVT, is that the tolerances are a lot LOWER than I expected. The firing pin retaining pin is sooooo tight, that I have to hammer it back in and I doubt I can take it out many more times. Also, the trigger group and receiver connection tolerance is like 1mm......I basically have to sit on the gun to get them to snap back together! Anybody else have tolerances that are that crazy?
 
I heard a rumor wholesale sports bought up every single incoming svt-40 to canada and no one else has any new stock what so ever currently.

If this is true SVT-40 Availability much be drying up quite alot.

I'm not sure why they would, they sure don't seem that keen on selling milsurps. Actually I was under the impression that there wouldnt be any more shipments at all

I've owned a few of these and all of them were a pain to click the trigger group back in. I carved a groove in a 2x4 the exact width of the trigger guard so that I can double hand it back in. I also drilled a hole in it for removing the firing pin. The firing pin retaining pin has been very tight on all of them as well and I found out the hard way that they must be perfectly flush when replaced or the bolt won't slide back in. Brilliant gun though, one of my favorites.

Good to hear that mine isn't completely out of the ordinary. Just like you, I found it the hard way about how flush the pin needs to be.
Again, it just adds to my amazement about the fine work that had to be done to craft these firearms.

Just some advice i've been told multiple times by admins before on CGNutz.
It makes some sense also.
if you don't think LEO's frequent a forum such as this in some way then your nieve.
 
One would be to reinforce the stock and two would be to prevent an already existing crack from expanding. I've seen them with one pretty often, two every now and then but haven't seen one with THREE ever. If one needed three, I bet they just gave it a new stock
