Howdy,

I like the look of the Walther PPQ but am having a hard time seeing the slight differences between models and even if certain things are available in Canada. It's a bit of an easy question but is the PPQ available here? (M2?) I see the 'Navy' version listed and it mostly seems to mean threaded barrel, which I don't like at all. Also, the PPX is pretty common but not sure the difference there either. On the site the PPQ seems to have a 4" barrel listed so obviously that's not going to work.

If anyone has an easy answer or can point to a link could you please let me know? Thinking about selling my current handgun and moving into one of these...

Thanks!

The ppq m2 is currently not available yet. I was told by the gun store that the distributor is trying to sell off the m1 first. The only way to buy the m2 at this time is to import it from the usa. The ppx we have here have a 4.2" barrel that sticks out past the slide. The differences between the ppq vs ppx are: trigger is better in the ppq, ppq has adjustable backstraps/ppx has none, ppx is usually sold as a range kit so it has a holster/ppq only comes with mags, ppq has readily available mags/i have yet to see anyone sell ppx mags here in canada.

The PPX is a lower end gun than the PPQ and this is reflected in the price difference. By all accounts (I have not shot one), the PPX is a pretty good gun for the money but not in the same league as the PPQ. PPQ has better trigger, lower bore axis, better ergonomics.

The PPQ "Navy" is indeed the threaded barrel version. It also has the internals coated to prevent rusting and a hole in the firing pin channel to prevent hydraulic lock-up should the gun get soaked. The M1 (or original) version of the PPQ has the euro-style paddle mag release, while the M2 version has the mag release button that is more common on American pistols. The mag release is really the only difference between the M1 and M2 versions. The M2 is the only version that comes with the longer slide. And as pointed out, there are no M2s in Canada as of yet. Also worth mentioning, M1 and M2 magazines are not cross-compatible due to the different magazine latches in the two guns.

If you don't want the threaded barrel but must have a Walther, you will either have to wait for the M@ long slide to make it here or get a PPX to tide you over. THe third option is ot import one from the US through Irunguns, of course.

Hope this helps!

The PPQ is their top of the line pistol. The trigger is easily the best of ALL the polymer guns. The Q also has the shortest trigger reset for polymer guns in the industry, about 1mm.
The PPX will be slowly phased out soon so may get good prices on it. The P99, PPX and PPQ have very impressive triggers vs. Glocks and M&Ps.

Is it only me who thinks the ppq is just a dumbd down p99??

stupid glock ##### trigger, no de-#### or cocked indicator and a trigger that's worse than the p99 anti stress trigger

Why even buy a ppq in the first place?

PPQ allows you to have consistent trigger pull for every shot. P99 you have to either decock or rack slide slightly to reset the long AS pull prior to holstering. Theoretically one could just holster the P99 in the short Single Action mode but I wouldn't do that.

The PPQ trigger releases a little more forward in the pull than the single action pull in P99. For me it seems to work a little better. But, I had a case of tendonitis in the finger a few years back and afterwards certain triggers are better for consistency. (pre injury, the P99 trigger suited me just fine).

PPQ grip is a little more filling and contoured depending on your hand may offer a bit more consistency in aligning finger for trigger pull.
