The 85 ejection issues with long action cartridges like the 270 and 3006 have been well documented on the Internet. As a short action fan, I haven't found any reports that it is a problem on 85 short actions. Anyone confirm/refute this?

I love the feel and quality manufacture of the Sako 85s I have handled in various gun shops - but no way am I am shelling out the better part of $2000 to have a rifle eject shells into my scope casing/adjustment turret and I have little interest in having to mount my optic super high to achieve proper ejection clearance.

I posted a thread about this ejection issue (generally) a while back. Originally had this problem with a .270 and returned it and went with a .308 after reading on countless threads that people unanimously had no issue with the short actions. 5-10 different forum posters on various forums, included 24 Hour Campfire, were the sample pool of unanimous "no issue" reports I based my choice on. Have never heard of a single report (yet) that this issue occurs in short action 85's.

Are you considering a SA Sako? Or already have one? Just curious.

Cheers

Considering.

The moment I knew my SA was not afflicted with the issue was having a gun counter guy cycle some A Zooms.... Straight out horizontally (between 2 and 3 O'clock) as opposed to what the .270 was doing (somewhere between 12 and 1 O' clock.) Confirmed everything people said on the forums. Seeing for myself was reassuring. Just a thought if you're hung up on it.
