Hey guys,

I've bought a Tikka T3 Laminated stainless off the exchange and I'm just wondering about the plastic bottom 'metal' and the plastic bolt shroud. Is it worth replacing these two pieces with metal ones even though nothing is currently wrong with them? Also, looking for a spare magazine for 30-06 if anyone has one kicking around.

Thanks.

The plastic bottom "metal" is well designed, strong and lightweight. As a bonus, it doesn't rust or dent! :) I would leave it alone. As for the bolt shroud, some have reported breakage. I suspect that is a very small percentage of T3 owners. I replaced mine with a quality ordnance steel unit, but the factory part is probably fine. Good luck finding a spare mag. Open the old wallet, as a new one costs about $100. :) Welcome to the T3 club, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll leave both alone for the time being and see how the bolt shroud fairs. I'll keep my eye out for a steel replacement for it as well. I'm going to keep searching for a good used mag for it, but I'll probably end up buying a new one in the end. I can't wait to get out and put some rounds down range with it!
