Hey guys, I am looking to buy the new vortex strike eagle for my Tavor, not too sure on how to measure the proper ring height. Could you guys give me some suggetions please? Thanks!

Measure ring height or determine which height of rings to use (as in low/med/high/extra high)??

If it's the latter, no two mfg's are exactly the same but if you go to their respective websites they will tell you what to use based on the objective on your optics.

eg. 1 mounted 42mm objective optics with LOW Talley lightweights - Weaver says I should use Medium rings - so depends.

There's lots of opinions and formulas out there.
Best I have found is to take your kibbles and bits into a shop that has a decent
selection/supply of goodies and marry the chit up to your liking.

I like my scopes dang near on the barrel regardless of eye clearance.
I can schmooze me cheek down to find the cross hairs.

Your/some mileage may differ, but not all dimensions as posted work as indented.

Put the hardware on and have a lookysee.
Only way to git whut yewzse want.

I agree with the loopy one on one thing for sure. Get that line of sight as close to the bore axis as possible.

I would like to know as well. So far I have have done well. the scope on my CZ clears the heavy barrel by about 1-2mm. But it was a total fluke. Buying on line or for a restricted is a problematic with the "take it to the store" approach.

Worked perfectly for me for my last 4 scopes. I typically make all the required measurements, and then find the lowest rings that will fit based on the calculator.

I was able to get my last scope so low that my butler creek covers are barely 0.5mm away from my barrel.

Also bear in mind that if you are using a sunshade + flip cover, you can gain a few mm, particularly when your rifle has a sporter profile barrel.

Cheers

I literally stacked dimes underneath my scope until it was as low as it could go. Then just measure the dimes and add half your tube diameter. Worked for me. Remember to make sure your bolt clears the eyepiece.

I think if you are mounting to a Tavor you are going to want some extra high rings. Most people are using standard AR mounts and finding them too low. I would do a little research into it. Having your scope as close to the top of your Tavor will make it very difficult to get a proper cheek weld and alignment on your scope.

I agree with this. Not sure if your new to Tavors, but it sure isnt set up like a traditional rifle. You definately dont want the scope low to the bore on this rifle as you will have a HORRIBLE cheek weld

Bring the gun and the scope to a gun store. They will help you.
The norm is to have the front of the scope almost touching the barrel. In other words, position it as low as you can, as close to the barrel as you can. But it also depends on your comfort level. Put your cheek on the stock and measure from stock to the centre of your eye -- that will be your distance to the centreline of the scope.

On the side note, because you're putting it on your Tavor, you may want to put your scope as high as possible if you want to quickly transition from iron sights to scope and vice versa.
