Where to buy 7.62x39 tracer rounds

If you do manage to get some, don't forget that they will likely set dry grass etc. on fire.

The CFO of Ontario does not permit their use on Ranges (in Ontario). This is a wise rule for obvious reasons...

You realize that most places in Canada discharge 1hr past sunset (full dark) is illegal?

Having said that, I got mine at a gun show. Pretty much the only place you'll find them, or on the EE. Once in a very blue moon a dealer might get a crate by accident mixed in with a shipment, but they don't tend to be too overt about selling them.
 
Sorry, 1/2 hour before sunrise or after sunset in AB (usually I only go between sunrise and sunset). It's in the hunting regs (surprise surprise) but the discharge rules are universal to those times in AB.

There are, of course, lots of people who bend the rules. It's a huge province (in terms of area), but it's 1-3 years free room and board if you get caught.

It not that long ago that a dealer found a crate of AP incendiary rounds in a shipment. Which are far from legal.
 
Guys!!! Don't spread rumours about illegal shipments or dealers handling illicit goods. That is a fast way for the authorities to make inspections and release much harder. We will all suffer. There are already enough rules and red-tape for our business supporters to live with.

Doesn't matter.

Read the act. Discharge of any firearm, no matter the reason, is illegal 1/2 hour after sunset (in AB, anyway). That the rule happens to be rolled into the hunting regs is irrelevant.
 
Now, AB is a big place, and mostly empty. Whether or not the rule is strictly enforced, is an entirely separate issue.

There's a reason why all the outdoor ranges in the province also follow the "1/2 hour after sunset" rule, and there sure isn't any hunting going on there either. (The indoor ranges have different rules, mostly governed by local noise ordnance bylaws).

Tracers are legal. Legal to buy, legal to sell. CBSA makes it a pain to import them, which is why most dealers don't bother.

If a case of tracers gets mixed into a shipment of other surplus ammo, proving it wasn't a "good faith" error would be almost impossible, and hardly worth pursuing given that tracers are actually, totally, 100% legal, it's just that the paper pushers are dinks and make it nearly impossible to get an import permit for them.
