Leupold vx3 vrs bushnell elite

I have a few nice leupold scopes and only 1 nice bushnell - E6500 4.5-30. The bushnell has decent glass, but has huge reticle lines and suffers from a bit of pincushion near the edges. The Leupolds (VX3, MK4 and VXR all have nice glass and no visible aberrations period. Hell the VX2 I have has nice glass too.
I would humbly recommend Leupold if your budget will swing it. Only reason I bought the Bushnell was I wanted something with higher mag and it was on sale, on a no tax day, with my 10% off card and had a bushnell mail in rebate plus jacket offer. In the end I'm really not happy with it and will eventually replace it with a Sightron for higher mag for long distance.

i will go with bushnell ... just for rainguard ... the other stuff is clarty the bushnell 4200 and elite are way better than a vx3 ...
I just looked at both on the weekend and I strongly disagree that the Bushnell 4200 is better optically than a VX3. Not even a contest afaic.
Maybe you were referring to the Leupold VXIII? The VX3 is a newer model and quite a bit brighter and sharper than the older VXIII

you may be right between a 4200 and the older version VXIII my bad but did you try a new elite?
were they the same objective? let say a 40 mm? if one is bigger no comparaison will work?

IMO looking at scopes in a store will never give the true picture of the scopes quality. Getting a scope out in field use during bright and low light conditions will really tell the truth about a scope. I never judge a scopes quality until it's been used for its intended purpose. Owned a few Elites, more than one so the first impressed me enough to buy again.

VX2........3-9x40
Tried them both on the same power.
The Leupold made the difference when the sun was going down.

Too much power, IMO. 2-7x or 2.5-8x would be better. Either the VX2 Leupold or VX3 depending on your budget.
like i said 4200 is the one i compared to the VX3. I like the 4200/6500 scopes quite a bit, optically. The only issue I have with them is that the eye relief is not great, and eye positioning is more critical than some other scopes. Optical clarity and high light transmission are wonderful things - but that alone doesn't make a good riflescope.
