Range report Benelli M4 BRAND NEW GUN
Maybe 15 target loads through before camping dog ran off last weekend.. shooting cut short, and had some hiccups cycling. Might need a break in i thought?

Canpar brings me these dominion buck and slugs. look cool. like that they are clear.

Slugs first. Modified choke. 20Yard 5 shot group the size of a basketball.
out of a box of 25 only ONE time did it cycle. rest were FTE and stovepipes.

Buckshot next. Long rounds. can only get FOUR in the tube...
Cycled flawlessly. EVERY TIME!!!! super rapid firing. love it.

That's my story.

unfortunately my benelli M4 won't cycle the slug shell, none of shell can cycle, every shot i have pull the bolt to open the chamber to eject the case.

i bought about 30 boxes of 25.
just worried about how i can shoot them all by pulling the bolt each shot.
does anyone has the same situation with semi auto shotgun?

my m4 works very good with trap shell. it cycles good with the oo buck shell purchased from Canammo, but not working with the slug at all..
seems very weird.

Hope these previous posts help with your question

Interesting I just sort of assumed that for a couple grand you got reliability with any load.

Weird...
that must be a very low load. Mine loves the S&B low recoil (both slugs and buckshots) and has cycled target loads without any issues

The Benelli M4 needs a few 100 of "high brass" loads to break it in. That and proper oiling you will have it running well with ALMOST anything. Keep it mind tho it is a high end combat shot gun and birdshot and low recoiling buck/slugs are NOT what it was designed to fire!!!

The DA slugs were bought for my Tombstone and are a no go in my M4, they just dont cycle... JP.

Thanks for the reports. I may buy them anyways and if they don't cycle I will fire them out of my supernova.

Nobody has ever said "I have too many slugs around"

When I bought mine, it wouldn't cycle S&B slugs at all. Next I bought 250rnds of federal 3" magnums. Now it will cycle anything

I am in the process of breaking mine in...my NEW Benelli M4 cycled Winchester AA #7.5 shot better then it did the S&B slugs...

So far all the buckshot I have put in it, Remington, Winchester and S&B has worked tho.

I was told by the dealer to take the choke tube out when firing slugs. He said it could damage the gun if I didn't, and it make sense since the slug cannot restrict like shot can, and certain slugs could damage it after repeated use.

The dealer is mistaken and poorly informed in this case, running without the choke and bare threads exposed is not a good suggestion.

x 1,000,000...

Even a FULL choke is okay for slugs. Super full and any "custom" choke I wouldn't use a slug in...but I would replace said choke with a cylinder bore or SOMETHING, never shoot anything out of the gun with the bare threads exposed!!!

You were right. I just got off the phone with Benelli USA and they said to fire it with the modified choke in, and that I should get an improved choke if I plan to use it soley for slugs. Just goes to show you what the dealer knows.

No doubt...I possibly would have held him on the line/for the repairs of my gun if I followed his advice after buying it from him!!!
