Offhand shooting

Just wondering what distance do you guys offhand shoot?
What size of target do you use?

I can hit 8" gong at 200m 7 out of 10 times with my 6.5mm CG63.
I can hit clay pigeon at 100 m every time with my scoped 452 Brno.

We do that most of the time for fun. Shatter clay at 50 m and chase down fragments till nothing left in the berm.

I do it at 100 meters on larger target. My friend tried 300 with his mosin nagant, it was a lot of fun and not too many hits haha!

What seems like a million years ago, we used to shoot the FN offhand at a 100M ----- kinda hard to keep the infantry 6" standard LOL!

Every time is the problem. He should have said 99% of the time.


I don't have a set distance for offhand shooting.... if I can clearly see the target and it's within range of the gun I'm using it's good to go.
For offhand I prefer iron sights or 1X optics.

The reason why I asked this question is Im having a dueling tree made and at 50yds the 2" targets look crazy small.
I'm not saying it cant be done. Heck bench rest with a good scope even @ 100yds isn't bad but offhand. The clays are say 5-6" Thats fantastic shooting offhand if your hitting them every time.

Guess I could learn alot from watching you shoot.
