Hi All,

The "Whats the oldest powder you have used" thread got me to thinking.

I have one of the old 12lb kegs of 700x that is getting near the end. I had a quick look around and it seems like there isn't really much out there..

Does anyone have this stuff? Is there a reason its not available?

Thanks
C

Hodgdon also switched 700x from being made at the Valleyfield Quebec plant where all the IMR powders are made to a plant in the US somewhere. As a result 700x now comes with a Hodgdon logo above the powder name instead of IMR. It's supposed to be the same powder with the same characteristics/burn rate. I don't know if the switch-over would have caused a hiccup in production/supply or not. They moved most of their flake powders from IMR (Canadian) to Hodgdon (US) production.

It's been around, Lawry's just sold out last week. You've really got to be vigilant to get powder now, checking websites and calling stores almost everyday to see if they have had a new shipment come in.

Higginson Powders Inc. in Hawkesbury, ON shows stock on their updated price list. They received a shipment in last Monday and they told me my Tuesday order would be FOUR WEEKS before it was shipped.
Their pricelist says: "700-X Double base shotgun powder for target loads. 8 lb. $220.00"

To those who have purchased 700-X recently, are they now packaging in 1 lb. quantity or are they still only 14 oz?

I have a pound that was made in August/2014 and it's still 14oz's.
