Smokin deals on Grand Power 9mm's/.22's and range reports

I don't see how we can attribute the big price increase in Grand Power's to the Canadian dollar. Our dollar is actually up against the Euro since this time last year.

Not sure about Grand Power, but many firms use US pricing, even if they aren't based in the US.

The newer series of K22 X-Trim has a lighter slide, and I believe people are having good luck with a wider variety of ammo. Mine's been working great with CCI Mini-Mags and Blazer, and I have the slide out for some mod's to lighten it. See if I can get it to cycle American Eagle 40gr RN reliably as I have quite a bit of that stocked up.
Please keep me posted on your slide mods as well as your continued magazine mods. I was asked what brand my K22 was last range trip and my response: "Grand Poo-Poo". Stupid thing should have never been released this way.

The backordered MecGar mags I had on hold from Brownell's shipped this week too. I don't see it being too big of a job to mod them.
Looks like they already got a hole there for me as a start lol.

the 1 mag I did last night worked flawlessly.

The other 2 I did up this morning in a rush to have a couple more to take out require a bit more opening of the hole. I wanted to test and see how small I could make the holes before affecting function (more for aesthetics than anything). They fired, but would occasionally jam from not feeding properly due to it not seating in the ideal place.

I did notice that when I really slam seat them in, it doesnt auto close the slide like the ones that came with the GP. Will try to find out if it's possible to make it react that way as well. If not, I am quite happy with getting some spares in the meantime.
Have a whole bunch more to finish up modifying and then the rest I'll likely be putting up on the EE.

These will benefit me down the line if/when I end up grabbing a CZ 75 too.

Sadly...the ongoing spare mag issues forced me to sell this pistol and move on.....it really is a shame, after repeated pm's and emails to dealers and importers ( not one took the time to reply) I'm now finished with this awesome pistol...it was my first, but couldn't move forward to any competition with 2mags...I am in no way dissing the pistol...loved it....but the spares???? Really???
I truly hope they can get their stuff together....

It seems like Grand Power has made a series of bad choices of Importers/Distributors. It's beginning to look like Trigger Wholesale is a continuation of that line. That's too bad because they really are nice guns. When a Distributer won't even acknowledge an email from a customer asking "where can i buy your product" it doesn't bode well for the line.

Got some more range time with my k22s.

I think I found some ammo it actually likes consistently, I ran 50 rounds of the Sellier & Bellot 40grain standard velocity through mine yesterday with only 1 light primer strike, again the same round still fired when I rechambered it. Yesterday was the first time that it actually performed consistently well.

I did find out that my k22s dislikes the remington 22 thunderbolt with a passion, i tried running one mag through, and of it 7 of the thunderbolts wouldn't even chamber properly, it seemed like the round was actually too large for the chamber only the tip of the cartridge would fit but not the rest of the body. I'm not sure if I just got a brick of out of spec thunderbolt, I didn't have another .22 to try it on with me yesterday.

I wonder if you got a bad batch of Thunderbolts? here's a range report i posted earlier in this thread....

"I had my K22S to the range today and it performed better than I was expecting given some of the posts here. I had one failure to fire out of 30 rounds each of Federal Champion bulk and Remington Golden Bullet (both fired on the second strike. Had 2 failure to fire out of 50 Rem Thunderbolt. Once again the rounds went off on second strike. The worst performer was CCI 36 gr Mini mags. I fired 100 rounds and had 8 FTF (all but one went on the second try)..2 failure to load and 3 failure to eject (2 left in the chamber and 1 stove pipe.

All and all I'm pretty pleased with my purchase."

How much are the Mecgar's landed Hitzy?

I think it's a bit early to crucify Trigger. I got an email response the same day and was told they expect mags and parts to be coming in soon and they were being held up by typical bureaucratic paper work issues in Slovakia. The fact that CZ mags can be made to work is a bonus but there should be factory mags in country soon.

Fair enough. It's just when I send an inquiry to a company and get ignored it kind of sours me on them going forward. Maybe my email got lost or overlooked.

I hope they do succeed in promoting Grand Power where others have failed in the past although I'm still not convinced about their new pricing strategy.

Email is great but sometimes it can lead to frustration when an email goes in a junk box or just vanishes....before I get to sour I like to pick up the phone.
As long as their is good support for the products I think they will do fine even at the more expensive prices and if the market doesn't agree they can lower the price or issue some factory incentive rebate's.

Yeah I'm wondering if it is a bad batch of thunderbolt I'll have to try it in a different .22 the next time I get out just seemed odd to me that the thunderbolt wouldn't fit properly into the chamber. But it sounds like you're experiencing exactly the same situation that I've seen with the failure to fire and then it firing on the second strike.

Which spring are you using? I'm using the thicker/heavier spring but I'm wondering if I should swap it back to the light spring to see what happens, and did you ever try the Winchester white box through it, mine didn't like that stuff either, but I seem to have the best results with the Sellier and Bellot and the Federal Automatch but I think it likes the Sellier and Bellot better.

I've only ever used the lighter of the two springs (it came installed)
