... need to take my bolt apart. I don't have the tools. Anyone in Edmonton have a bolt dis-assembly tool? If not, mailing it to you in a padded envelope isn't the end of the world. I'll even toss in some cash for your time. But you'll have to put it back together after it's sprayed, too. I'll cover postage, of course.

And do it in a large container, plastic tote, bathtub, whatever. Something with walls to catch flying pieces.
 
From what I understand there is a special tool that nobody seems to have for removing the bolt roller....I would be very careful, could damage the bolt if you try and force it off.

Better yet, put the whole things in a freezer Zip Lock plastic bag when you take it apart. This way if it flies apart you'll be able to keep all your parts. I speak from experience about this ;)

there's no need to remove the roller
it is absolutely one of those parts that "if it ain't broke...... don't try to fix it" applies ;)

I gotta sandblast the metal to prep it all. Last thing I want is some grit getting somewhere where it doesn't belong, and not being able to get it out no matter how hard I try.
 
Are you sure that you need to sandblast it?? It is parkerized so a good cleaning is maybe all it needs??? That's all I plan on doing to mine when I paint it with Cerakote.
 
at the moment my m305 is stripped down and i am installing a blackfeather rs system, i would like to black out the action, barrel etc. what would be the best product to use? anyone use armacoat and how does it hold up? is there a better product?
 
Cerakote blows the door off any other finishes out there. Check out there web site as they've done a comparative test with all the major players in the industry.

Yeah. It had a rattle-can finish at one point because the parking wasn't very uniform (Chinese QC) and that finish was taken off with a wire wheel, so things are pretty smooth now.

It normally is, but see my comment above. I'll be masking off the roller and hoping that I don't get too much dust into the gap.

If I had Cerakote I'd probably use it. But I have Arma-coat, since I picked it up for a pretty good discount at a gun show. I think shipping the whole works to Barret would have been much less headache, but it's kind of fun this way.
 
I have experienced both finishes... Arma-coat scratches WAY easier, but Ceracote chipped around the edges easier, I don't think either are all that amazing. However, if you have a good parkerized base finish, I find that Arma-coat adheres extremely well and really holds up! The key to Arma-coat is that you NEED to allow it to cure for about a month before hard use. Most people run out the door with their freshly Arma-coated firearms and wonder why they got scratched to sh*t.

The worst examples of a products performance is to look at its manufacturers website, these tests are horribly biased.
Cerakote black is a fantastic finish, but the black is the only colour that has the properties to stand up to the wear they show. Their other colours are made of different chemicals which make them weaker in the end.
Plus, they have a HUGE marketing budget, so they can spam their product all over the place and say what they want.

I am a cerakote applicator and very much like the product, I'm just saying don't believe everything you see from the people that make it. Lookup tests online from actual people.

I also use KG Gunkote, their product is strong all across their colour spectrum, and not as thick (less than 0.001"). I like KG for its ease of use, long shelf like and no need to premix.
The fact their product is strong in all colours is just a bonus.
