I decided to take my reloading one step further. I just started to check bullet uniformity and sort out the bullets. I'm using a redding instant indicator for this . I zeroed the indicator and then from there I will get a measurement in thou increments. Bullets were sorted in the following measurements :
-5 + -
0 + -
5 + -
I started with Sierra 190 HPBT MK's and was surprised that they measured within 1-3 thou apart.
I'd like to know your thoughts or if someone has any experience they would like to share.

Have You sorted by weight? Usually I find there is a bigger difference in weight bullet to bullet then the difference in uniformity

Are you sure? Variations in bullet shank length will cause more velocity dispersion than the tiny bit of weight variation you'll find in most bullets. The only thing you'll discover by weighing bullets is how to use the scale. Trigger time would be recommended over scale time. Why didn't you test this before posting. Pitbull you're on the right track.

I sorted 500 105gr Berger VLDs the other day, I found all except 4 had a bearing surface within 3 thou. The 4 outliers were 15 thou too short. I have another 1000 to do from the same production lot, will be interesting to see how many more I find.
