Pistol Transfer Process - Interesting Development

I have only been asked this question twice, both times by the CFC and not CFO's office; and both times it was a local buyer that I was meeting at the range to do the physical transfer. Never been asked for any log distance transfer. And the lady from the CFC go pissy ans insisted that we both needed STATTs because our LTATTs only cover us for going to the range to shoot.

Sold one that I agreed to deliver last week, when I was transferred to request the STATT, I told the woman I would deliver "tomorrow or the next day" since I hadn't had time to set something up with the buyer. NO go, I was told to call back when I knew which day as they would only issue a one day.

Similarly, I completed a transfer yesterday as the seller and was told the STATT will only be good for one day so I have to coordinate with the buyer first, then call back.

Ya, but was this before or after the transfer was approved?

Seller initiates transfer - Buyer accepts transfer - Wait for CFO transfer approval - Ship

I just got a STATT today by email for a handgun. It gives me a month but I can only travel between 0700 and 2100. Guess I have to be home before the street lights come on lol

I completed a transfer on Monday and that was one of the questions. How was I going to get the gun, shipped or pickup.

It's all BS. One time, I wasn't home for a delivery so my 12 year old daughter signed for it.

You're right. My wife picked up a parcel from the PO and brought it home- turned out to be the TT33 I'd bought from Lever Arms. I laughed, called the CFO, had them send me a STATT "so I can pick it up". It was sitting in front of me the whole time, but I wanted it on the record that I was a good little boy and asked for the hall pass.

If you get drunk & are found shooting out the street lights - not good to go.

Makes you wonder if this is the image they have in their heads...this or it's just about making it difficult. Obviously we're not deterred. We wouldn't put up with this kind of foolishness from children, but it somehow makes sense to the CFO's

Ahh well...do what ya gotta do.

Not that I'm objecting to the issuing of the 30 STATT, just seems hard to believe I have to ask for something they are going to give me anyway...as others have said it should come with the Restricted/12(6) under the possession column on the back.

Ok, I'm a bit confused about this. Isn't this idea (the RPAL will also be your ATT) one of the laws that will be implemented by Bill C-42 this year?

Exactly!!!

They could've stream lined the process ages ago. In fact why need an ATT at all? If you have a valid PAL you should just be able to transport - period.

Yes, it is most definitely about making it difficult. As difficult as possible. To try to deter folks from "getting into" the sport. But it's not working. More people than ever are applying for & getting their PAL's.

Totally agree - time for the CFO's to stop treating us like children.

NAA.

No it was approved, that's what I meant by completed.

That would make sense then. STATT needed after approval.

BTB - I think the terms used by the CFC in their recording are "Initiate a transfer" and "Complete a transfer"? I'll have to dial that up tomorrow and confirm. Not that it really matters.

Even the 30 STATT is ridiculous, I received mine and it came with a condition on it that I needed to have the registration certificate in my possession; that didn't come until 3 days before the STATT expired, luckily the previous owner was in town that weekend!
